Hi Drift. I came across the same thing over here in the UK when looking for my 348. Recods had been "lost". Are we talking 348 or 355 BTW? If you're in the UK let me know as I know a guy that will probably be able to help. Given a specific VIN he could tell me previous owners, whether FOC or not, areas of the country the car had been kept in, even events the car had been to. Really useful in my search.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm in the US. After reviewing the car yesterday I think I'll move on. The condition was not nearly where it should be. Pictures were great but it was a different story in person.
    Again thanks.

That was the story for basically all the cars I looked at. After the first few I stopped looking for a car that looked like the pics and started looking for one that could be even better after a bit of work. It became more important that the mechanicals were ok (PPIs a must unless you're an expert yourself) and that the cosmetics could be bought up to scratch. Are we talking 348 BTW? I've got a thread running showing the work on my car (cam belt service and detailing of a 348 though detail is a bit of an understatement). Give it a browse. It's a different route but was the only way I found to get a car in the condition I was looking for. Be interested in your thoughts, mate, and good luck in the search.
