Yeah...it gets old sometimes all these questions WHY and all that jazz. I'm having loads of fun and that to me is money well spent.

I've got nothing against stock Ferraris though. I'd probably leave a 458 stock, except for carbon panels from Novitec, and the complete Capristo exhaust setup and....WAITAMINUTE!

Finally did the deed. Removed the wheel node ecu from my old steering wheel. Wasnt half as difficult as i expected. Just need a thin wall socket to remove the last bolt that holds the pod to the facsia. My mate will be bringing the thin wall socket over tomorrow. It's a standard socket but the walls are much thinner in order to fit in tight spots. So whilst we start pulling the seats out, rip out the firewall and start drilling holes to secure the reinforcement plates for the harnesses tomorrow, I'll also be swapping the wheel node ecu to the scuderia steering wheel. Hopefully that gets the rev LEDs to work. Fingers crossed. I'll also get the airbag wrapped in alcantara coz it's currently red in colour (previous steering wheel was in red), kinda mismatched. Besides a brand new airbag is ridiculously pricey. Ironical, I know...after all I've spent on the other parts.

Project is getting out of hand now. Scuderia door sills on standby. Scuderia engine vent grills in carbon ordered. In car FIA approved extinguisher system pending shipping confirmation. This will be tricky as i will be classified as literally attempting to ship in an explosive ordnance from overseas. Boy am i going to be popular with the authorities. We will see how the postal office decides on our special request this week. Fingers crossed again.

After that, I might just toy with the idea of ordering scuderia carbon door cards. Just not sure how the locking mechanism can be integrated into my 430 door system.

    Updates coming soon.

Thanksmate. If it doesn't, I'm going to dump the steering wheel.

Thanks mate. Thats where I'll be getting the door cards from. However, I've checked with the seller and the locking mechanism is not included in the auction. And I believe it is not the same as the 430 locking mechanism. Need to study this further in order not to end up with two really nice carbon coffee tables.

That I can't help you with. Perhaps the answer is in the parts diagrams?

that's some parts store! but I cant figure out how to get the descriptions in english. Or
does it only come in German?

F430 Addict, where else would be a good place to find OEM Ferrari parts? I am considering 599 carbon door inserts. Its very reasonable if I get them from a U.S. stateside dealer but their cars are left hand drive! Same part but euro spec is 3 times more expensive!!!

Carbon inserts I can ask for you. I have GTO moldings if you are keen. They came with my seats as a set but I've got no use for them.

The door cards also have no speakers, you lose your HIFI as well.

That can be easily resolved with some custom audio setup. It's not a big issue. The main issue would be to figure out the locking mechanism behind the carbon cards.

Update: Steeribg wheel node ecu swap didn't work. Seats are in with harness belts secured to a bar held under the seats instead of reinforcement plates on the cross member. Need some sleep now and will fit the door sills later.

Unlucky, I had my doubts with the Scud wheel lights after trying everything with the one I had. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the seats and harnesses in the car. Does having the belts secured under the seat route them ok for stress on the seat back and full protection in the event of impact?

Good question. This setup was used in four Scuderias that are running in town and on track. Thankfully none involved in crashes so we won't know but compared to a setup involving harness bars (in a gt3rs) it feels as firm if not firmer. I'm happy with it besides it's only for track days.

Without seeing the pictures that sounds extremely dangerous indeed. The belts should NEVER drop below the horizontal plane as it leaves your shoulders. If you are in an accident the forces will cause severe compression of your spine. If your shoulders are lower than the point where the belt exits the holes in the seat, the compression forces will be transmitted to the seat. The seat wasn't designed to take compression forces in that direction and may well break, probably at the reclining mechanism.

You really need to get set up checked by a qualified and experienced shop.

Appreciate the advice. My ideal setup would be to secure the harnesses down to a hardbar unit. That's something I'll look into next if the track mechs frown at my current setup.

As always there is a lot of different opinions on this subject. I prefer the FIA MSA Blue book definition as this is sanctioned and scrutinized for safety.

It says upto 45 degree's is acceptable but horizional is preferred and the preferred range is 10 degree's negative of the horizontal.

Here's the actual blue book spec diagram, fia 253-42 belt angle diagram which shows all the recommended angles for safe installation of harness belts.

    http://chelraf.ru/base/2007/AppJ_Art_253.pdf

The recommended geometrical locations of the anchorage points are shown in Drawing n° 253-61.

    253-61
In the downwards direction, the shoulder straps must be directed towards the rear and must be installed in such a way that they do not make an angle of more than 45° to the horizontal from the upper rim of the backrest, although it is recommended that this angle should not exceed 10°.
The maximum angles in relation to the centre-line of the seat are 20° divergent or convergent. If possible, the anchorage point originally mounted by the car manufacturer on the C-pillar should be used.

Since I'm using the 360 Challenge (OMP Ferrari challenge) fixed bucket carbon FIA approved racing seats (5.9kgs) that are bolted to the floor and very low center of gravity I needed to use the Challenge car location which is lower than on the road cars. On the road car seats which sit higher up they mount the points higher. you location needs to be strong and safe, ideally using the factory location.

You can see from this picture (not great to illustrate the point but good enough) that my location fits within the -10 deg definition (just). In fact this is the preferred position for the F131 chassis as there is a rigid chassis bar located here which is very strong and structural (and the actual location used by the 360/430 Challenge car harness belts). Don't forget to use the correct high tensile FIA approved steel bolts and correct spec weight spreader plates in the engine bay, they have enormous stresses to deal with.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed info.

I'll definitely be looking at a hardbar unit. That'll be close to horizontal.

Btw, does any company make the center console for the 430 in carbon, and for RHD cars?
