Well from what I am hearing, they want someone who will bring in money, so it would be either Bruno or Petrov. However, Petrov is struggling with getting sponsorship for next season and Bruno current sponsor is not happy with Renault performance. Grosjean is the choice, but he has no money.

Glad someone else understands it...He's also got a very dry sense of humour, couple that with his antics and old skool attitude, makes him FANTASTIC!

    Also, funny fact:

We now have every single world champion from this millennium driving in F1. Fantastic!

Kimi and Kubica together at their peak would be great. Now, not so much. I hope the car does him justice.

IIRC, the number of Ferrari F1 WC's of any kind since Kimi was ousted: 0. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. But I'm sure that the team spirit and communications are great and everything is sooo touchy feely thanks to Fernando. That's what most of you seem to strive for, right?

Quite a change from Kimi's stance before when he refused a ride with *McLaren* at a pay he felt was beneath him.

Now he's driving at the back end of the grid in a car that will never be a contender, and I'll bet he's making less than he would have at McLaren.

Raikkonen, Epstein, Villeneuve... names of guys who thought they were a lot more relevant than they turned out to be.

Nonetheless, it will be nice to see Kimi back in F1. But it will pain him to see the front of the McLaren as it laps him every race and know that he could have been driving that again... and the front of the Ferrari as it laps him and know he got fired there for underperformance. Worst of all, to see Massa floundering and know this is the guy that kicked your ass. Twice.

    How the mighty have fallen!

I agree, the man is true to himself and I like that about him. My wife gets a chuckle out of my imitations! Glad to see him back in F1!

I'm hoping Petrov gets the other seat.

The brotherhood between Russians and Finns is legendary.

This should be fun. Something to look forward to at least besides Vettel winning another title.

I hope he does have a stake in the team. What better motivation than that.

Interesting words from Petrov's manager. So they're offering him a buyout?

Petrov's manager Oksana Kosachenko told the RIA Novosti that Renault has given the Russian 10 days to decide on his future.

"After today's decision was announced, I was given a very short amount of time, literally ten days. We have until December 10 to decide if Vitaly stays or leaves," Kosachenko said.

I actually don't quite understand here. It seems to me, from this statement, that ball is in Petrov's court, and ultimately he'll make the decision to stay or go. Won't Renault decide here?

Very interesting. Thats bold considering Russian money is available and they are not a cash poor country soon to host an F1 race. I have faith they can improve but Kimi is not the problem solver. They need a car that can get up front and stay there.

I think this is a long term move for him financially. Sure he gets to drive but he cannot be under an illusion he will be a factor in a title fight.

    Why not?...

Sure, it'll be a long odds bet, but we know a motivated Kimi is maybe the quickest of them all and, contrary to some reports, is a very good developer. I wouldn't bet the farm, but should they do a good car he could be right there IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian
