Don, The SSR Fanatics will be there to support your efforts this holiday season. I will have final count by Dec 3. Thanks for supporting these local charities for the pass 7 years.
I just received a message from A Tin Lizzie Affair and they are acting as a toy drop off place. So if you cannot make the ORIGINAL DFW toy run please drop off your toy at Lucinda's place of business. A Tin Lizzie Affair is located at 13350 Floyd Circle 75243. Many thanks to this fine group for helping us out.
Don, As always we appreciate the effort that yourself and Carolyn put into organizing this event. The drive is always fun and the group of cars is just amazing every year. Look forward to seeing everyone here on the 10th !! Let's make this the biggest Toy Run ever !! JP
Carolyn and I went out this weekend-in the Ferrari Badged Explorer so we wouldn't draw as much attention-and ran the route. The roads are really pretty good for what they have been through. The run is 85 miles long and took us just at 1.5 hours to run. That time of course would not incur the wrath of the local Constabulary. We will run the route in the Ferrari next week to verify exotic acceptance. We talked to the owner of the restaurant and they have a "back" room that will easily hold or group. In addition that back rooms opens to a bar so libations will be readily available for those who desire one. The only problem that we have now is that the parking at the restaurant is a little problematic but I will discuss that at the driver's meeting on the 10th I was hoping to have some info on special needs toys by now but the person with whom I am working had a family member involved in a car accident so they have been out of touch for a couple of days. I will have this info by the end of the week.
Don, Do we have to be FCA members to participate? I let me FCA membership expire long ago, but if possible I would like to participate (in my Acura MDX). Ken
no, as I understand FCA and Don put it on, but getting as many people out for the toys as they can, so open.
I talked to the person that is helping us concerning specific gifts and at this point there really aren't any. The kiddoe range is 2 to 12 both boys and girls so that should make it pretty easy to buy toys. There have been a couple of questions about participation. As Rob pointed out above this run is open to everyone, Alpinas to Zagatos and everything in between. If you will remember last year we had a 70's Volkswagen Van that was loaded with toys. Also this is a rain or shine deal. Everything is falling into place and it has to go on this date. If it is hailing-God forbid-then we will collect the toys and Carolyn and I will do a drop to the people. HOWEVER, the long range forecast looks pretty crummy for the first of next week and slowly improving toward the end, with temps in the mid 60's. Therefore only positive thoughts about next weekend. If you wish to make a cash contribution I will have an envelope. I you want to donate by check please make it out to the "Collin County Children's Advocate" We will run the route Sat. Morning in the Ferrari to make sure all of the roads are OK, clearance wise. Remember I said in an earlier post that there is some road/lane sluffing from the drought and we have run half of it in the Ferrari and had no problems--well one but there is a picture of that. So get those cars ready and do some toy shopping this weekend and next week and we will see everybody at RAC Performance Saturday morning Dec 10th. Oh by the way for all of you audiophiles who can record stuff---we will do the tunnel!
If you're running the route in your F-Car this weekend watch out for those revenue collectors! Looking forward to a sunny drive in another of your fun-filled creative routes. See y'all soon.
I haven't been on here in a while BUT I will be there rain or shine with the Rossion! Had a blast last yr...thanks again for putting this on. Let me know if you need any help at all...I will also ask Kenny from Jotech if he can bring a slew of GT-R's
Well due to some business that did not get done on Friday I had a carryover to Saturday. By the time I finished the rain had set in and we were unable to run the full route in the F car. However, there are still 6 days remaining and Carolyn and I have to meet with the people concerning the parking and the restaurant folks. I just received the long range forecast and it looks like the weather for next Saturday will be sunny with the temps in the mid to high 50's--it just can't get much better than that. The critical aspect of this run is the final location which is the restaurant and also the collection location. They have a fair size parking lot and they own the building/business next door and we can get the parking from the facility next to that. These areas can be blocked off so that the low clearance vehicles can park here. There is a parking lot across the street that is also available and it would work for the cars where ground clearance is not quite so critical. So it is very important to get an accurate car count by this Wed. AM so that I can talk to the people on Wed. afternoon and give them a number. This is the F-chat list that I have so far, if you have a + after your name that indicates the number of additional cars you have lined up; Jeff B. Garrick Maximum 810 BB84 Kurt--maybe 4M Son +5 Bob D. Charles M. Jeff B. Vi T. Richard + 7 cars WJHMH Westrock Licht Kemist +6 Lee 2375 Wade F399 Frances 98R648 Srtsplitty GregTR At this point I count 39 cars plus the FCA members and their invitees and the people coming from RAC's mailing and from a couple of other groups. If I did not mention your name please indicate that so that I can update the list. REMEMBER I really need to know the number of cars by Wednesday AM. If we are off by 5 or 6 that is not a problem if we are off by 25 or 30 that may be a problem! Again thanks to all of your for your support and participation in the ORIGINAL D/FW Toy Run.
Hi Don, my final car total is myself plus the following vehicles: Dodge Viper 1995 BMW M3 2011 VW GTI Mk 6 So, put me down for 1 + 3 more. The VW owner went ahead and purchased his toy last Satureday. This should be it for me. I believe some of the other Alfa's were going through Garrick and the ICCSW. Take care, Jeff
For those of you that are Ferrarichat old timers, I found the thread of the original run in 2005. Lots of familiar faces. Michael was still small enough for Jano to easily carry, and my kid that barely hit my chest then is now taller than I am. I still laugh about us warming our hands over Jano's car. It was cold that day! 2005: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84038&highlight=Toy+Run
Don, just wanted to make sure we are on one of your list. The weather will be perfect for driving. Didn't make C & C last weekend so I have twice as many toys for your run.
We will have none of this on the Toy Run, PLEEEEEASE! http://video.msnbc.msn.com/msnbc.com/45551095/#45551095
I'm still trying to get the family onboard for this outing. first time in 7 years I haven't gone out for opening of 2nd split duck season.
