Let me guess: That's done using WDC points? According to this ranking Webber is the 2nd best driver of ALL motorsports in the world. And a guy named Oriol Servia beats MS? C'mon. Not even I would make such a comment. Or Massa is better than MS? Puhleaze. I got a bridge to sell you. And some land near the North pole.
I do not deny that Alonso is a great race strategist but atleast for myself I do not see how the incidents MS has been involved in has anything to do with his racecraft as they imho were not of his doing.
If Rosberg turns out to be a championship-level driver in a few years he will undoubtedly have been positively influenced by watching Schumacher's intensity and work ethic. Since Nico is not yet ready to challenge for wins much less championships, two more years of learning from the old master cannot be considered a bad thing. Seriously, if I was Rosberg, I would be learning everything I could from MS and spend at least as much time working with the team as he does. If Schumacher shows up at 7 am, I'd be there at 6:30. If MS does 60 laps, I'd try to do 65. I'd listen to every debrief Schumacher gives and try to emulate that when I debrief the team. Not to outdo or show up Schumacher, but because he has proven himself a winner and deserves the preferential treatment he gets for 20 years of racing and seven championships.

nonsense. The guy had some rough offs but they were in the name of fighting for positions which is a TON more than can be said for Nico who is in essence not a fighter at all. This particular shunt was the same is this previous weekends and were caused by rookie drivers trying too hard with too little skill, or just being plain stupid.
Folks, when driving gets to this level it is my opinion they are like concert violinists as they are at a level of mastery none of us will ever understand. But if masterful violinists can teach us anything, it's that their instrument is of the utmost importance. Itzhak Perlman has said on numerous occasions that he could not be the player he is without his Stradivarius violin and that his technique, sound, everything would suffer without it. Schu has been stuck in cars that are less than Stradivarius quality so I differ any judgment on the guy until he has a truly great car. Still, he made lemonade with W02 doing what Nico certainly could not.
yeah you might be right. Button says he's NOW driving better than ever. Maybe the prime is 42 or 43? who knows.
If you look at sports these days, one thing i realize is the 'prime' age is slowly falling. Generally, about 10 years ago, most sportsmen will be in their prime between 29-33. Today however, the age is slowly falling. Vettel, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, a few examples of it. Depending on the equipment provided, but i guess Vettel's prime will be in about 3-5 years time.
^^^^ Also he was blocking by staying down and off the proper racing line for that corner. Anywho I pray that the new car will bring not only MS into contention for race wins but Nico aswell. Now back to the topic of 2013 for MS, my belief is no matter what he decides to do he will remain with Merc and quite possibly become a team principle. Imagine him and Ross working shoulder to shoulder with every possible area covered?? At that point I believe the only flaw in the team will be the chassis kinda like the current one.
I dunno - I suspect that may "fail" in the same way that most (but not all) ex-superstar players fail as coaches/managers in other sports - These guys just don't seem to understand how hard it is for mere mortals it seems. It was one thing Ross asking Michael for "a second a lap for the next six please Michael" but quite another asking, say, Nico the same....... If they progress next year I can see him doing one more, but after that I think he'll ride off into the sunset - I just don't think he'll want to be around all the time unless he's driving. But I could be wrong..... Cheers, Ian
DAMN I wish we had coverage of ROC here in the land of motorsports deprived deviants!! I like Petrov and hey that win could go into his autobiography "I beat a 7 time F1 champion!!"
I thought MS would have become a serious player in the Ferrari organization after his retirement from driving, but for whatever reason, he could not step up to a higher calling. And the organization did not see him in that role either. Can't see him taking that role at Mercedes. Any thoughts?
Luca's ego stopped that from happening, and Luca didn't want to see MS/RB running the F1 side any longer. As for stepping up at Merc, he speaks the same culture so that may help.
+1 Two of the smartest F1 drivers of all times tried their hand at managing teams (Lauda and Prost) and both failed miserably. Team managers are different people from racing drivers. If anything I see MS as an "ambassador" to MB after he retires in the way he was on the Ferrari pay role after 2006: "Testing" and "developing" the latest AMG sports coupe, which then will be produced as a limited "Schumacher Edition" and sell like hotcakes. He might end up duelling Roehrl around the Nordschleife whenever MB brings out the latest Porsche killer and vice versa.
Yes. 1. Why are you implying that he could not step up (your words not mine) to a higher calling? Speak your mind instead of in riddles and rhymes. Do you not think he is capable and if so your fooling yourself. 2. 'The Orginization' lol! Ferrari fawked up when their own ego was once again more important than winning WCC's. Therein lies the problem as MS was more than capable of winning atleast one if not two more WCC and WDC's (a fact spoken by those IN the know) but Ferrari blundered and look where they are now! It has been mentioned that Ferrari thought MS was taking to long to decide if his contract was appropriate ($) wise but that is probably something us outsiders will never know the full truth too.
