According to my psychoanalyst Dr. A. Rcon it is a severe case of TPS.

2008 Vettel was on a rain setup and the car was quicker than anyone all else weekend. It was a case of the quickest car winning again. Why is it surprising to anyone that the fastest car won that weekend? Isn't that the case most weekends? It was like Schu at Canada this year. The car was just plain quicker and the driver could get the most out of it.

And Nico's rookie year with Williams? Puhleeaze. His car retired 9 times. Mark's car retired 11 times! Too much of a POS car to tell one driver from another with that pile. However, Nico did set fastest lap at Bahrain, qualified 3rd in Malaysia which were just way out of Webber's stratosphere. But statistics at that level are inconsequential at best IMO. Too much garbage going on with the car and other extenuating circumstances. Then of course the following years with Nakajima were no contest on all levels.

Nico vs Vettel would be a good contest during qualifying but I believe that is where the contest would end as Schu has shown is this year. I could be very wrong though as Webber has regularly shown his race pace to be greater than Vettel's on occasion.

So how did Schumacher signing until 2013 help Vettel win the 2008 Monza GP again?

    :p

Then why did his team mate end that same race in 18th position?

And why did Vettel score 35 of 39 total points that year?

It was a case of one driver getting their setup just right. It happens every weekend, and they are usually the race winner. It was odd considering the car itself was a pile, but if a driver can get it to work than more power to them. Many have done the same thing, granted they are a very rare breed though. Nico did it during qualy at Malaysia in '06 yet for some reason he can't set his car up for the long haul..... a real head scratcher

Nico has been racing 6 years now and the feeling around F1 being voiced by some is he is starting to look 'journeyman' in a way. No wins, multiple teams etc. He is good but not in anyway as FA in making a weak car look better than it is. In terms of pace MS is his match in race form so far. He is beating MS but by no means soundly. I never sense the absolute drive for victory you feel in someone like LH or FA or MS for that matter.

Unless something changes its clear he is not the type of driver who can pull a bad car up the grid in any meaningful way. Will he get some wins? Even that is becoming in doubt. As all drivers do they need a good car. Mercedes needs to bring that up soon or he becomes less and less a factor or remarkable. I have no doubt he's gone from Mercedes in 2 yrs or less if he doesnt get at least 1 win. He will start looking for another team to keep the dream alive or he is in league with quick Nick.
Just my opinion as in all things in life subject to change :)

Well, it shows that he's still got 'it' if you check the results. He was the best of all the F1 drivers competing....again...so of course, he should stay in F1 for as long as he wants to.

He was the best F1 driver at the time. It's only a cruel accident that he doesn't have multiple WDCs.

Webber quite nearly beat Vettel last year as well, and should have if not for favoritism being shown to the German. And that wasn't even Vettel's rookie season.

That and Webber is having horrible issues with these Pirelli tires. His ability as of last year showed he was very capable of beating Vettel on a regular basis and I actually believe Webber should have had last years WDC as he was quite simply the more mature and better all around driver. I'm hoping Webber has better luck with tires next year

It was very disappointing Schu didn't beat Kristensen in the semi finals as Schu beat him by 2 seconds the day before. Ah well right. He was the highest ranked F1 driver there which ain't too bad right

Didn't Vettel have a number of reliability related retirements that put MW in the lead? If I recall correctly, Vettel blew MW's doors off in quali the majority of the season. In my opinion, MW, in no way, has shown he is the equal or better than Vettel. Everyone complains about drivers making excuses until it's their driver making them. Tire be damned, MW got his ass handed to him.

Yes of course. Some on here just look at F1 a bit differently.

Vettel is a unique super talent. He showed that in the wet race of Monza in 2008 where the conditions equalized all running cars and it came down to driver input. Pole position and victory in a POS showed the world what he was made of. Just in case for those who missed it: At his F1 debut a year earlier in Italy he also set fastest time in practice and then scored his first points in his first GP (USA).
Last year he beat Weber fair and square. This year he humiliated him in a way that it wasn't even funny anymore.

Anybody who even questions Vettel's talent needs to find another hobby.

Oddly, wasn't Monza 2008 Vettel's only wet race win? I remember his performance was pretty bad in China last year (wet race) and then of course, Canada this year, where he slipped.

I don't have any doubts about Vettel commitment and talent, however, 2 things i would really like to see from him properly : overtakings and wet weather driving. Somethings great drivers like Alonso, Hamilton (2008 version :D), Jense and MS have.
