SODIUM FILLED EXHAUST VALVES. I dont care how many miles are on it, if it has not had a valve job by now, i would not even consider ANY 76-79 308. PERIOD. The End. Otherwise you are rolling the dice, and risking the value of the car if it drops a valve due to age, metal fatigue or lack of proper valve adjustments. 2v cars ARE NOT Valuable. 76-77 dry sump cars, i can see spending money on. 78-82, not unless its a well sorted car. Cars of that caliber dont appear on ebay or craigs list.
you are talking about 76-77 dry sump cars; in one post earlier you say; only late Euro cars are drysump. Truth is, like many have mentioned: Carb - Euro- GTB - no matter steel or vetroresina - ( model years 76 - 80 ) are drysump. ALL other ( all US cars, carb GTS, 2V-i, QV ) are wetsump. Best Regards from Germany Martin
This was my car for the last 11 years. It is a US car that I sold at auction during the summer to the dealer who is now trying to sell it. I replaced the bumpers with Euro style bumpers last year when I had it repainted. The paint job was not as good as promised. So every time I looked at it I got mad, so I decided to sell it. Also I only drove it 3000 miles in the last 11 years and it hadn't had a major service in 10 years. All the more reason to sell it to someone who might get more use out of it than I did. It runs well and always started when I wanted to go for a drive. I've seen the ads on the internet and honestly don't know where they got their info from. I'm at least the 4th owner, the paint, body, interior are not in excellent condition, the A/C doesn't work. They are in average condition but everything does work and it drives well. If anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask.
I wondered about this car. It was on my search list this past summer where I saw it on ebay. When I called to go see it the dealer they told me it had been sold. I see now that it is back on ebay for the low low price of $28,450. Given the information from Vicen and the fact that it has been on the market for a long time, I would make a detailed rapair value list to help keep you right side up before making any offer...
Anyone have a current ad or dealer info to post. I'll be in Dallas within the week, likely with a bit of time to kill.
Here you go... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-308-GTB-ONLY-32K-ORIGINAL-MILES-L-K-100-PICTURES-/150713193220?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item231734d304
Sorry, I dont see that, but I may be blind I read on that site that "the last carburetted 308 GTB built in 1980 was 34349". I don't think I see 30369 listed.
30349 is a Euro car. Look under the Serial No. list and you can see where all of these cars are listed,
I went by their location this morning. They said the car is sold. I said the ad was still on Ebay and the lady said it takes a while for the ads to come down. I was not able to see the car as they are kept out of sight.
