I might be jumping ahead because I've only read up to page 78, but I have a question about Joe's book. Is it mostly numerical facts or more stories of development & such? If the latter I will buy it
    Thanks!

IMO it's both a good read and most certainly a precise write-up on Miura history including the necessary numbers on dates / production numbers / VIN#'s etc..
The only negative on the book I would be able to mention is the frequently shared opinion on the "best" and maybe even "one and only" Miura workshop in the world for Miura restorations.. I would have preferred a more neutral point of view in a book that's intended as a historical work. But other than that it's a must read for any Miura owner or enthusiast.

"The Lamborghini Miura Bible" is a most enjoyable book on the Miura and you will learn a lot from it. I knew quite a bit about Miuras before reading it but I know quite a bit more now. You should definitely buy it.

It's been 5 years ever since this thread was started
and it's one of my favorite places in the World Wide Web .

Thanks Sackey and everyone else in this community for their precious priceless contributions

P.S. I've noticed some people all over the place have copied and pasted this mispelling of ISLERO

    Dear Martin,

Few people refer to the bull and the car as Jslero. The ones who do have done their research. In fact, the bull was called Jslero but that spelling has gotten lost over time. Ferruccio named the car Jslero, and asked Marrazzi to craft the badging as such.

Note the "J" spelling of the badge on the car. Not "I". But "J". I hope this clarification helps...

In spanish the word Jslero makes no sense , not at all besides being unpronounceable

I recall Islero was named after his mother whose name was Islera
( relative to an Island )

Joe : Thanks for the "cartel" I love it
but it advertises the same corrida or performance of Manolete which happened to be his last  ( Aug . 28th 1947 )

I think you may be right about the bull, although I will defer until I see an original copy of Jslero's birth certificate...

But what makes no sense is why an Italian car, built by Italians, and named by an Italian has anything to do with being pronounceable in Spanish any more than Iota, Jota or Countach do!

What also makes no sense is what part of the car's obvious "Jslero" badge you fail to accept. Ferruccio owned an Jslero himself, and chances are he would have asked someone in the back office to correct the "misspelling" as you put it, if that were the case. As far as I'm concerned, the boss named his cars what he wanted, regardless of your approval. Some of them are even called different things by different people. Next you'll be giving us a thesis on how he stole the Miura name from the Miura family in all your righteous logic. Right?

Sorry to interupt your theory Joe.

I met Mario Marazzi last 14th November for a whole day and this point was one of my questions. The following day, I was with Ingrid Pussich and this point was also discussed in regards of one "warranty file" concerning the Islero of one of my father's friends : #6027.

ISLERO is the name selected by Ferruccio, referring to the bull which killed Manolete.

When Ferruccio asked for the logo to be designed, he never determined how it must be, he was expecting sketches.

    The logo was starting by a capital letter, then tiny letters : I s l e r o
    instead of full capital letters.

Because of the line underlining the whole Lamborghini name with the "L", the idea was to continue but starting with "I" didn't match, so the "I" was slightly modified in what you are probably one of the few to believe it is a "J".

As, you show it yourself with the 2 catalogs, but I saw the Press release and many official correspondance about Islero are ALWAYS with "I"... no more doubt to have !!!

Well, ask Stefano Pasini who is the foremost Lamborghini Historian, and he will tell you it is Jslero.

    http://www.stefanopasini.it/Lamborghini_Jslero_badge.htm

Furthermore, Etienne Cornil was the press officer at the time and he conformed it was a mistake. I suppose its like the Iota/Jota moniker. Which one would you like to call it? We are talking of Italian cars after all :)

Jota has a different meaning, it comes from Group J in racing, which says to which degrees a Jota car is allowed to be modified to be confirm with Group J according to FIA.
But Olivier knows this better than me.

I know Raymond. There is a certain sarcasm to all this, aimed squarely at Martin who really has nothing to offer this thread, other than to nitpick.

I really could care less what the Jslero is called or how to spell it. Not my kind of car, never owned one, and never will. Im sure they are fun cars, but I specialize in Miuras & Countachs, as far as Lamborghinis are concerned.

Anyway, this is a Miura thread, so I apologize on behalf of the President of the Fly-in-the-Ointment Club for leading us astray.
