Wiring up "Battery Tender Plus" to a 348, andy suggestions?

My 348 had the battery in the rear. Pigtail was attached to the battery and zip-tied to a frame rail near the shock tower. I plugged in the Battery Tender whenever I parked in the garage at home, with the wire dangling out the engine hatch.

No. I didn't unplug the battery tender from the wall during hook-up or disconnect. Worked like a champ for years.

 

Just hook it up, plug it in and forget it. They are pretty straight forward and will save you the dead battery blues.

I fashioned this out of an off-the-shelf battery tender and a radio-shack connector. It works perfectly and I don't have to find the battery every time I hook it up of pull it off.

What's the longest you've left the car sitting with it hooked up like that?

 

It does but I find it better to hook directly up to the battery with the terminals provided. Its easy and then all you have to do is unplug and close the hood.

 

I've used this regularly for years; one day, one week, two weeks, etc.... The longest period without starting the car would have to be the winter hibernation (roughly 3-1/2 months) and it always works perfectly.

A while back I saw a battery tender like this being sold through Aston Martin dealers, it seemed like such a convenient way to do it, I had to make one of my own.

 

My Vantage V8 is exactly like that. The ciggy lighter adapter is actually in the boot, and the factory supplied CTEK plugs right into it.

 

Ah, so that's why the 348 is going...

looks like you are getting the job done. Does not look professional/clean but looks like it's getting by. I would probably recommend taping your negative cable better where the cables exposed.

I use the digital Save A Battery system and plug it to my cigarette lighter/power port.
In use for the last 5 years and it works great with no issues and comes with every possible connector you could want including the one for the cigarette lighter/power port.
Plus it does more than just maintain the battery which can come in handy.

I have 2 Battery Tender JR's, one for my car and the other for a few other batteries.

I have a rear battery but didn't decide to install the perm harness...I use the clips for everything. During the holidays I plug my truck because it has an alarm so it doesn't go dead. I modified a Power Wheels for my daughter and added a 12V utility battery on it so I alternate between the ATV, my truck the buggy and a spare battery I have so I got into the habit of using the alligator clips.

Now one thing that happened is since I park backward in the garage, I once forgot to unplug it and when I drove out of the garage to let it warm up and did my usual walk around I saw the plug hanging out. So now I lift my radio door and place the key ring inside and let it hang down over the console. So when I get into the car, it reminds me to unplug my car. I bought this at an airplane museum.

Same here, kind of. I mounted the battery tender to the top of the battery box. Pull in the garage, pop the rear hatch, plug in battery tender. Battery tender in the car means it is with me wherever I go. Just plug it in and you are good to go.

 

Yeah, nice car! I was looking at Aston Martins before I bought the 348. A bit out of my price range at the time. One day I will own one.
