i haven't seen it yet ,i believe he said that copper slip ring on the rotor was totally eaten through. he made it seem like a replacement was the way to go.

The alternators for the USA Dinos with smog pumps were different. They had a fitting at the rear for the smog pump drive.

We retrofit a higher amperage unit from an Alfa Romeo on mine.

    Uro!!!!

Take a peak, see if you can find a model number on it, or maybe some notes on a repair slip?

We had to fool with it a bit, but the upside is we ended up with a better working system.

I peeked at it Monday when I was trying to figure out my starter. Its wiring comes very close to the front exhaust header. I'll see if I can find a label and photograph.

BTW, that may be why the 60 amp fuse is blown.

That's a pretty hostile place for wiring. I've used a piece of "firesleeve" to protect it after replacing the toasted remains.

Fuses blow based on draw, or a short. I can put 1,000 AMPS on the supply side of a 60A fuse but if it's only drawing 40 it's not gonna blow. IF there's a short, it'll pop, if you draw over the 60 amp rating it'll go, but supply isn't what makes 'em go, it's demand.

And by close, do you mean CLOSE? Pics please.

BTW, there was a spare 60A fuse in the leather folio with your manuals. Take a peek, betcha it's still there. :D
