456M owner here who would like to learn more about the 360 GT model: http://www.lmpcars.com/20110611/ferrari-360-gt/ For instance, everything I've read suggests that it's race-only and not street-legal, but this car has a passenger seat? And a navigation system? And what looks like a standard security lock for a rear license plate? This particular shop's on my route back home from the office, but I've never seen it in their (quite small) front "display lot," and given that the listing's from 6 months ago, maybe it's already been sold.
that is a michelleto GT 360... definately not road registerable. Missing the sequential gearbox lever but i have been told they still have a complete hewland 6 speed sequential box.. Carbon front/rear bumpers, doors, engine panel... etc engine modified etc etc.. Beautiful vehicle.
From the pictures on the site its clear to see this is one of the original (and very very rare) full on highly developed 360GT cars. What is very intriguing about this example is that it has CF air pipes in place of the air restrictors which normally they restrict the airflow meaning 430hp vs a staggering 550hp without [plus suitable remapping]. Bare in mind this car (without the ballast weight) is little over a 1000kg's KERB weight. Removing the ballast and FIA racing air restrictions would make the car an absolute animal but the work would have had to have been done in conjunction with Michelotto Automobili (see http://www.michelottoautomobili.it/) to have the mapping done correctly. Seems like a well heeled enthusiast may have ran this beast out on the street (!) because as you've correctly identified it has some sort of sat nav and the extra carbon seat fitted. This car is a piece of history and did the hot lap of the Fiorano circuit in 1.17.00 which is barely a blink of an eye slower than the Ferrari FXX !
Sort of true but this really does depend on your geography on if you can register it or not. I know of several 360 Challenge cars which have been road registered in Europe (with a few choice modifications to comply with various regs).
I think that they can be road registered if they have the complete vin number and not the special plated number from michelleto. Well i think this is the case in Australia im lead to believe. So an NGT could possibly fit that bill as they have two vin numbers.. but anything is possible if you can modify. ps would you know where you could possibly get those intakes from?? rough costings??
http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU0185189700/index.html?TRCD=200002 Differences from the other car I posted are (a) wheels are 5-bolt instead of centerlock; (b) has some kind of roof antenna; (c) different shape for rear wing; (d) different side mirrors; and (e) the engine compartment looks far more "finished." On offer for JPY23.625mio (approx USD300K). And it's listed as a "360 Modena GT-Misano."
This clearly looks like a retro slightly modified 360 Modena Challenge car with improved aero upgrades, it has standard 360 Modena Challenge brakes, fuel filler neck, etc. Some interesting (non factory) parts to note here; 1. Challenge Stradale / 360 GT-C derived side skirts (they look like aftermarket copies as they are deeper than the regular CS road car ones) 2. Gold Painted/refurbished (but still factory spec 360 Challenge rims) 3. Factory 360 Challenge Engine bay drip trays (painted silver) - GT cars didn't have them. 4. 360 N-GT rear wing (or copy) 5. Front GT aero bumper with front diffuser Engine looks standard 360 Challenge fare (standard lexan rear window, et.c) This car is not to be confused with a proper 360GT which is substantially further developed than this car.
A factory built 360 Modena Challenge can be bought for relatively little money but not a genuine factory built 360 GT. I do agree however that the above car is just an aero equipped/upgraded Challenge car so is vastly over priced IMHO.
I don't know about US but in Europe a Challenge car can be had for upwards of €40,000, however a genuine F131-EVO chassis car is for sale right now in Madrid, Spain for €160,000. That's quite some difference but its vastly upgraded. 360 GT-C (€160,000) Chassis No: F-131GT 2038 http://www.racedandrallied.com/race-cars-for-sale/ferrari-360-modena-gtc 360 Modena Challenge (£42,000) http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/38031/ferrari_360_challenge.html
As to rarity the advert for that car in Madrid states; Quote, "MICHELOTTO MADE ONLY 6 UNITS FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD, AND THERE ARE ONLY 4 REMAINING." Can anyone confirm this? Only 6 made? If its true, wow... didn't realize they where THAT rare! Although perhaps thats for the 360 GT-C vs 360 GT. Anyone know the total production numbers of 360 GT and 360 GT-C cars?
SpA contracted out production of the first 16 N-GTs to Michelotto. They were all converted 360 Challenge cars, carrying the original 360C s/n and then also stamped with Michelotto's 001 - 016 s/n. There is one available now, I believe, on Hemmings. As soon as the N-GT was found to be as competitive as it was, SpA brought production in-house, producing, I believe, roughly 25 of them, but identified only as the GT. They used s/n in the 2000 - 2050 range (no odd s/n, I believe). There are a couple available around the world including the ex-Acemco-sponsored/Risi car now at Maranello Motorsports in Oz. Can't say how many GTCs were produced, though. Without seeing the s/n, I can only venture a guess, however, it does look like one of the earlier Michelotto-built cars. One of the tip-offs is the fact that the air restrictors were different (with the restrictors on the SpA-built cars being in-board above the intake manifold as opposed to those on the Michelotto-built cars mounted at the out-board air intakes). There are likely other subtle differences, but ALL cars can accommodate two seats (assuming you aren't running a cool-suit). Removing the air intakes, by the way, changes the drivability considerably. The engines are optimized for the 30mm restrictors. This means the cams also have to be changed, and unless you do, the car will run very rough. I don't know if 550bhp is possible. I believe that if the restrictors are removed, the cams are replaced and it's remapped, you might get more in the neighborhood of 485bhp. Regardless, it's fast. Prices...well, these cars haven't yet taken off, but when new they were around $400K USD, IIRC. Market for an SpA-built 360GT is currently north of $200K USD, without spares. CW
This is a race car, the satnav is a laptimer, forget the street legal (even if you dare to put it on the street, every speed pump or uneven road will mess up your car let alone getting away at a traffic light...). This looks like e genuine 360 N-GT or GT. The second car is a fake. From both series are a handfull made, I think 18 N-GT's and a little more from the GT's. Quite some for sale but a terrific good buy as it is the most Ferrari you get for the money and Michelotto is a master. Expensive to maintain and spare parts are hard to get. Ciao Oscar
Oscar, I couldn't agree more about using a GT or Challenge car on the road yet people still try to do it. Anyway, thanks for the info. I don't suppose you have any more detail on the changes that Michelotto did to convert from a Challenge car to an N-GT or GT-C do you? Was the GT-C the final evolution of the 360 before the 430 came along? -T
I forgot... I can't remember which s/n Michelotto won't use, but they don't use one (bad luck, maybe?). So, there are less than 16 N-GTs. BTW, here's one that's been for sale for quite a while. SpA/factory-built s/n 2030... http://competition-llc.com/index-1.html Car is still for sale, and I just saw it on ebay with a BIN price of $210K USD. I know the owner and have spoken to the seller, an accomplished racer. Some spares included, but there are others available. However, this indicates it's a Michelotto-built car. IIRC, though, the owner had two... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-FERRARI-N360gt-Michelotto-factory-race-car-?cmd=ViewItem&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4942004337352742041&_trksid=p5197.m7&item=170748528739 CW
BTW, here's the N-GT listed on Hemmings I referred to earlier. s/n 016, the last Michelotto-built car... http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/ferrari/360/1339887.html CW
Mario Bernardi has also one for sale. I bought mine in the UK and at that time there were about 4 for sale. As it is the first real racer together with the 333SP since a long time it might be a good invest although I bought it to race, as anyone considering buying one should do. As previously mentioned you can easily add more power but will mess up every setting so just leave it standard. I put an open exhaust on it that is a real blast! Ciao Oscar
There were 6 GTCs built. The Challenge Stradale was put into production to allow the N-GT to GTC upgrade. The first car (chassis 2025) was presented simultaneously with the F1 car end 2004 at Fiorano. It is yellow (and still is) and sits in my garage!
the car ,the 360GT is s/n 2020 and was in 2003 campaigned by the swiss Kessel Racing team. It was then later sold directly to Japan.. Ivo
