Maybe he wants to know if it's worth the cost of subscribing. Would be a shame to shell out the money and then find there's only 20 users in the subscribed sections.
I never really noticed that number at the bottom of the screen before. LOL The "Members List" only lists 89,472 members. Why the discrepancy? Are there 7,878 members who are not listed? Is there anyway for someone to check off an option to not be listed? Members list -> http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/memberlist.php
The "Members List" doesn't include any users that have registered, but not activated their account. Sometime users just change their password or email and that requires them to reactivate, but some don't. We also don't count banned users, maybe we shouldn't count those, but some are just on temp ban and will be reactivated. There are about 5,100 inactivated users and 2,700 banned. When I delete users, the first group I look at are the inactivated. I never delete banned users so we keep their IP history.
Interesting. IMO then, inactivated "users" that have never actually activiated and people that are permanently banned are not actual "members" - they just are counted because they are in the database. I'm okay with counting those that are temporarily banned, as that's just a slap on the wrist for actual members.
2700 BANNED!?!?!?! Is anyone else surprised by this number? That's about 5 a week over Fchat's life. Dave
I don't know about the other mods, but I know I usually ban as many as four or five spammers a week... and sometimes well over 20 in one week. Mike
well, we have 10x the number of users and 20x the amount of activity. so 5x the number of banned is about right for quality perspective. most are bot or foreign spammers. I would say only a few hundred are unique individuals banned for stuff like trolling or commercial spam. like here's just a quick sampling of banned usernames from upfront in the list... adfsdfsd adriano-19 adriano_8 aeolusm afeishisb98544 affdatingboy AffinityRentals AfGuN_bLaZeR
Stats section at bottom left of the home page shows 98,261. The most recent user ID is 113655 so we've gained 1,327 (113655-112328) users since 12/9/11. The pace better pick-up for my guess of 2/12/12 to be right.
Rob, Looks to me like we recently broke 99K; is this the official count? Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login
You need to step-up...I was sure you'd be at 100K posts before we got to 100K users... Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you look at the member's list you get a figure of 90,957 and that does not include those on permabans. I would hardly call someone who is permabanned a registered user anymore - they're former users. Therefore, I submit to the board that predictors in the latter part of 2012 or early 2013 may yet prove accurate. All the best, Andrew.
