Ive read Peter & Dean's posts about the dangers of being out there driving these wonderful machines. They are right.

But I use 2 thoughts to eliminate any concerns about this, given of course that the cars should be insured:

    1. I have clients who drive their $25 million 250 GTOs on the street. Yep.
    2. I should be so lucky to own a Countach and I'm not going to let others stupidity prevent me from enjoying the car.

That said, I look at myself as a public educator of the car :) willing to stand for 30 mins at a gas station demonstrating it and fielding all the intelligent and not-so-intelligent questions!

As far as tailgating is concerned, I just wait till a safe moment, drop it down a cog or two, and disappear into the sunset, reminding those pesky motorists what a Countach is about in the first place!

    True.

FWIW that's World Driving Champion Phil Hill leaning on the passenger door, and Stirling Moss standing next to the driver's door.

Sir Sterling Moss, the famous British grand prix driver, drove a Countach for a 1981 test and said, “It has to be the worst car to sit in. I’m positioned so I’m looking down at my feet with my head scrunched against the roof.” He goes further, “Visibility is poor out the sides and the back … .” “It’s incredibly uncomfortable, hot, cramped, noisy and almost impossible to see out of. Not to mention the total lack of luggage space, the nonadjustable seats … .” While he has a right to his opinion (e.g., uncomfortable) he is in error about the "total lack of luggage space" (these cars have small front trunks and fairly spacious rear trunks) and the nonadjustable seats (they are adjustable for and aft). It seems unlikely that his head was “scrunched against the roof” as he is not much over 60 inches tall; this could also explain his inability to see out the sides and back. Perhaps his report should have just said “it is very noisy on hard acceleration” as this would have been correct!

Did he even see the Countach? Did he get it mixed up with one of the other cars? What was he thinking?

That sounds much like James May's review on the Countach!

David: I think he just looked at it, and then wrote the report! At least Phil Hill actually leaned on it :)

Same car a few years later..

I've never read or seen a Countach review when the cars were new, done by an Englishmen that was anything but rediculous.
Jeremy Clarkson, James May, now Sir Stirling.

Not too many years back Derek Bell drove one with several other cars including the Mclaren F1 and his suggestion was the CT was the biggest surprise!

Very nice video...thanks for putting that up. I will ask though, take a look starting at 1:40 seconds. I'm sure they have the car tuned well, but doesn't the oil pressure seem to come up very slowly when they rev it?
