I found these cats which claim it will pass emissions testing anyhwere except California.

Has anyone used these? Do you think they're any good?

I use bypass straight pipes from Fabspeed but I wanted to buy these so I could have them handy and put them in only to pass the test and then remove them.

My Y-pipe has also been replaced with a straight bypass, will this ruin my chances of passing the test? Is there a way to get the top exhaust valve top stay shut temporarily so the fumes all go to the cats in order to pass the emissions test?

What kind of test do you have to pass? I had a test done the day I bought my 355. I have a 5.2 so it consisted of the OBD II port plugging into the computer at the testing facility and a scan. Everything was good and I was done. If you have straight pipes you may be triggering codes that would cause you to fail this scan. If OBD I (95's) then in my state you would have to pass a sniffer test where they actually measure the pollutants in the exhaust as your car is running.

I am in Quebec and we've never had emissions testing here so I never worried about it and replaced my original Y-pipe and cats with straight bypass Pipes.

However, the government has recently introduced a bill which will require ALL vehicles to pass testing every 2 years which will essentially be a scam to get money out of taxpayers.

My car is a 95 with OBD1 so I tought of getting these inexpensive cats in order to pass the tests. Is this a good idea?

I would guess that those cats would be able to pass a basis sniffer test if you have a properly running car. If lower quality could have long term problems with them dying quickly, but as just a pass a test set they should do the trick. Just make sure the car is really warmed up before the test and the cats are hot. My biggest concern would be how well those would fit. Not that they don't look like they would fit, but fitament seems to be a big problem with all aftermarket exhaust parts that are not super high quality.
