yes also most guys i know that work in money management are more aggressive with their investments and enjoy the finer things in life.
+100 it happens everytime I take my car out . do you know how many rearenders has happened from p eople looking or trying to take pictures . you don't get that in a Porsche or NSX
Your saying that like you think it's a good thing? I find that strange to be honest. I'm happy to be inconspicuous so maybe my 911 is a keeper, we Brits are a little less flamboyant than you guys maybe. I'm happy that my car hasn't caused any road accidents, do you and your mates count the accidents you've caused and wave willies at the pub?
It appears you've missed the point or just aren't getting it.. When you drive a 360, it WILL get attention. It's just beautiful and people notice it. Did I buy it because I want the attention? No. I'm not Simon Cowell in my Veyron, and I don't drive around with my interior light on.. you were saying something about Brits being less flamboyant? ;-) If you want to be inconspicuous drive an M5. It's got great power and sufficient handling. That's not the point. If you want the Ferrari experience, you have to live with all that entails... If not, keep driving the 911. Just don't be resentful towards those of us who have satisfied the little nagging, yearning inside, for a Ferrari. I can tell you that it's a yearning that none of my porsches even came close to satisfying.
I think this NSX may just change my mind, although why the played Acura grill, but its interesting, still... its no Ferrari http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/detroit-auto-show-2012-acura-nsx-reborn-america-195522208.html
I can't read any resentment in my posts, not a bit, that does seem to be the standard defence of any negativity towards owning a Ferrari from a lot of guys. I find it strange that a lot on here seem to be looking for the attention, the number of times it gets mentioned in a thread with a smiley face after it for example. I just find it a bit odd that's all, if you really do have to put up with people crashing cars because of how your car looks (which seems unlikely and possibly a little exaggerated) or have people climbing on your car to have a photo taken then it would make me think twice. However I am baiting a bit if I'm honest as they are a reasonable common sight in London and again the Brits must be a bit more reserved as they just seem to drive by fairly un-noticed........................maybe it's the drivers that assume everyone is looking at them? I'm not sure. Anyway don't be alarmed, I'm still looking for a 360 but it will have to be a black one that blends into the background a bit more, I don't want to be responsible for causing any pile ups, or worse still cause all of a ladies clothes to spontaneously fall off
Its true though, when i picked up my Ferrari in NY for the first time and drove it back to Chicago via the Carolina's, i couldn't understand the attention it drew, even in Manhattan where higher end exotics are common, mine drew so much attention that it was fun at first, but by Greenville, NC.. i was a bit tired of it and started to get concerned about my safety and privacy. And Yes, one day i was being paced by a VW GTI with the driver looking straight back at me from his side window and as we reached an intersection, it turned red, but he kept going as he was looking at me and bam, broadsides another car. It was bad and the thought of it stayed with me for weeks. Mine is an older style Ferrari than the 360 and is less expensive than some of my other 'high end' cars but they never draw the same attention, so its not about dollars spent, i think its just a mystique that Ferrari is and taps a string in the hearts of many, so much so, i tend to drive my other cars if i don't feel like talking to strangers.
i don't know what you guys are talking about. i live in a nice part of nj and while i'll get the occaissonal stare or kid waving to me, the car hardly evokes the kind of responses i've seen talked about on these boards. maybe it's time to step it up and add a murcielago to the stable lol. i have a red 360 for those who don't know.
Very well said !! Rohan, you don't live far from me and I don't know why you haven't gotten that time of response . Let me tell you its common . I was on 42nd street this pass Sunday and i cant count the number of pictures of was taken of my car.
i guess it could also be that i'm not driving around very crowded areas. i take my car out and drive fast on the highway and backroads. but i've been stuck in traffic before and seriously, i think people look but i don't get 1/10th the things i hear about on here. time to come visit you juan!
Yes you do. I got the same treatment with my 348 . Now its worse and sometimes scary so consider yourself lucky . Or maybe you are going to fast to notice
People do stare and take photos of my car! They do they do they do!!!! Lol, you guys properly crack me up.
Are you serious? A couple of posts on a website and you assume all people in the US or all ferrari owners in the US are flamboyant vs. brits? Actually, for many and hopefully most of us driving a ferrari is about the experience of driving/the sensory inputs/the sheer beauty of the car, not trying to impress anyone else. There are those that get the car for the what I would call the wrong reasons, but likely the same % of buyers in the UK. I try not to bunch people together with generalizations (at least on a public forum )
Oh no. I ONLY bought my car for the attention. In fact, I am THAT OWNER. When I first meet some one I say "Hello, My name is Curt and I have a FERRARI.. what inferior car do you drive?" I only wear red things that have a Cavallino on them. My underwear has a Cavallino on it. I plan on naming my first child Enzo. If you can talk to me (it interrupts me from ANYTHING I am doing.. even nothing) I have the uncanny ability to say even the nicest things with an air of offensive snobbish arrogance. Which reminds me I think I fouled my plugs driving 30 miles per hour around town... just so people would see me in my FERRARI. Yes, I am THAT flamboyant stereotypical American FERRARI owner. (see I did it again and capitalized it... hehehe) (*sic am jk*)
Long time lurker, reading is more important than posting to form an opinion don't you think? Tell you what, drop me a PM when you think I've earned the right to an opinion, lol. I however do agree with you that most on here buy the car for themselves not others, I cringe when I read all the self serving nonsense about the adoration that driving one of these cars gives you, true or not anyone who references it constantly needs to take a long hard look at themselves. All only my "low post count" opinion of course, and I don't expect or indeed need that opinion to be liked or accepted.
Actually, the "couple of posts on a website" comment I made was referring to a couple of people posting on here about wanting attention from the car or what not and then assuming that most US owners are like that...I wasn't referring to your post count to Ferrarichat (poor writing style on my part). The fact that you have a low post count probably makes your opinion count more as some of us over-post meaningless dribble on here (I'm referring mostly to myself on that comment ) By the way, vrsurgion where did you get the ferrari underwear- maybe I'll get some of those if they are made in boxer vs. briefs
I sincerely apologise for mis-reading your post, now you see that proves the point about there being down to earth and properly reasoned Ferrari drivers aplenty. Thanks
Wife go the boxers for me, I think ebay... have to be careful about "unapproved" licensing.. don't want the authorities "confiscating" then when I'm out and about! ;-)
