I currently have a 512TR and am giving some initial thoughts of adding a second F-car to the collection. Just curious to know: 1)how many of you "currently" own more than one F-cars? 2)what are they? 3)what goes into your decision-making process when adding your 2nd F-car?
95 355 Spider - 67 330GTC and just sold a 61 GTE. What goes into the decision process - endless addicition to these darn things, and the love of spending to much time and money on them... I guess just the text book definition of "addiction".
hello richard--- fabulous collection. i suffer from the same addiction. it single-handedly responsible for many failing relationships and break ups.....i'm beyond help (lord knows, i'd seek help if i believe it'd do some good). in any case, i like how you mix your collection up with old/new and varying engine sizes....
Currently: 308 GTSi QV and a Testarossa Purchase only the F-cars that I've dreamed of owning since a youth.
I used to have 3 at one time. A 328GTS, a F355 and a 360 Modena. I wanted to have a collection of the V8s. The reason for the V8s was, the road tax on cars and that's payable annually is a exponential function, which is stupid. A 3.6litre car will cost US$1,100 per annum and a 5.6litre car will cost US$2,800. So there's reason for owners to avoid V12s. The problem was the Ferraris are weekend cars. Initially I took everyone out at leat once a week, then I had time to use the only the 360 and by the time I got back to the 328, it's more than a month. That's when the problem started. The car wouldn't start and I have to call the Ferrari mechanics every time it happens. And at the same time I started to get into performance cars, Skyline R34, Mitsubishi Evos and so on and these were excitng cars. So I sold the 328 and ordered a Skyline R34 GTR from Japan, then I sold the F355 and got a Porsche GT3. And now I've sold the Modena and waiting for my Stradale. Well I have no regrets, though. I've enjoyed the Skyline and still have the GT3. And now anxiously waiting for my CS.
355 Spider, 328 GTS. Oh yes, and two MV Agusta motorcycles with Ferrari developed / involved engines...sometimes I think it's hard to choose between a run in the twisties between any of them! I too have bought only cars I've dreamed about since youth. I'm thinking of a Testarossa (which would be my first hardtop car...ever.
Victory-- Splendid collection, man. I'm actually contemplating the addition of either a 456M or 550M and have a collection of V12s. The 512TR is my first F-V12 car and I must admit I'm enthralled with her sheer thrurst and impressed w/ her power. Thanks for sharing the info. and experience. Hope you take possession of your Strad. soon.
Nice, Red Baron.. I too had a 328GTS.. BTW, a childhood-dream fulfilled is the best reason I've received so far. Thanks, guy.
I own a 550 Barchetta 2000 and looking into purchasing a Enzo or Stradale from Europe. Just love to drive them. I'm a buyer its also my job.
I have an 88 TR, and an 83 Boxer. I wanted to sell the TR, which I had for 6 years now, and move on to a Boxer........that was my plan. However, I found the "perfect" Boxer, at the right price, before I sold the TR.........so I bought it, thinking that I will now sell the TR. I had the TR for sale, for about 6 months........no sale. Since it was a used car, I felt that it should bring a price that, if I ever wanted one again, I should be able to buy one for the same price. Well, the best offered price was just TOO low........so I decided to keep both. I am currently doing a major (plus) service on the TR.
I have a 456GT and a 69 365GT 2+2. I used to have a Mondial Cab, but I traded it in on the 456. I like the 2+2s, what can I say! Each of these cars gives a different experience. The 456 is just a wonderful automobile, period. The 365 has a great vintage feel and sound. They are both fun to take on trips. Ultimately, though, it's not a rational thing!
2)what are they? '98 355GTS F1, '01 550 3)what goes into your decision-making process when adding your 2nd F-car? a) seeking complementarity vs redundancy. The 550 is a good complement to the 355. Stick vs F1, torque vs peaky engine, coupe vs GTS. I find the 355 GTS almost boring with the top on while I can't stand being inside when it's warm and sunny. b) having enough parking space
Chris---Over the top collection. You and I need to trade career for a day or two.... Cool gig, guy. Thanks.
Hello Henry---Whow.....if you have to be long an extra Ferrari, TR a great one to have. I bet they look stunning side-by-side. I love Boxer....
Ze_Shark--- That's the exact same reason I am giving serious consideration to add a 456GTA....(as Kuzi said, please no debate on manual vs. F1). Awesome collection, guy.
Hi Don--- Nothing wrong with your passion for the 2+2s. I'm actually thinking of adding the 456GTA as my second F-car.
to tom, read your PM message a few hours ago. still a freshman with F-chat-just sign up a couple months ago.I have own a '92 512tr, when i saw an 512m @ newport autosport,i traded it in, get to know armen288gto ,owner of newportautosport, you have to check out his collection. i think he posted his cars on showroom section. i also own '99 355 spider f1 and '74 dino gts. i'm looking for a 330 gtc or 288 gto and i can die peacefully in motor heaven. I have drove an F40 that you want., but the low bumper height and the long overhang would just kill the underside, garage driveway must be repave to accomodate
I currently own a 1998 F355B and a 1976 365 Boxer. My rationale is to have one "new" car with modern fuel injection and suspension and one "old" car with Weber carbs but still having a newer looking body style.
