me thinks that is exactly what that is....

 

That's the tray for rear seat passenger's feet; constructed of twin layer steel sheet with insulation in between so even in the best garage queens that is where the humidity gathers and the floor rots away.

 

oh, ok on the tray, but i do see some crazy amount of rust underneath of that,
