For those that want more info on the 355 exhaust combination should do a search on Ferrari chat as we have have discussions on this matter .

Search Ferrari 355 capristo exhaust and bypass valve .

Lots of info on making sure that the combination of all the components that make the exhaust system is the correct one

    No.

Sounds great (I'm familiar with this video) but doesn't sound just like an F1 car.

Well it is missing -10,000 rpm :p, but that is about the closet I've heard to F1 as any street going car. Next best would be the BMW E60 M5 with the Eisenmann racing exhaust.

At 1:00 you'll really hear the high-pitched F1 scream (bumble bee on steroids??)

Granted plenty of it is probably rubber on asphalt sound but I dare say there's some intake and exhaust sound mixed in there :)

I agree it does sound very much like an F1 car, its all in the sound. If any one was to close there eyes and just listen, i am sure the majority would not be able to guess the RPM range, and i bet more than a few would guess an f1.
I don't know why some hair spliters are trying to compare a modern day 2010 F1 car with a 90s 355. I am sure a 1970 or 1980s F1 car would be more of an appropriate comparison. An F1 car spans many decades not just 2010. I think if one looks hard enough, one would find a very close match.
Let's also not forget this F1 sounding monster

"I agree it does sound very much like an F1 car, its all in the sound." ??

    So it's invalid to compare a 2010 F1 car to a 90's 355 but it's appropriate to compare a 90's 355 to a 1970's or 1980's F1 car?? Okay...

Yes thats correct. There are various f1 sounds and RPM ranges out there. A 1970s f1 does not sound like a moden f1.
Try and understand and keep up with what i have wrote, every one else seems to but you.

1448. Stuff steel wool in between the O2 sensor and the extender on the post cat sensors when running track pipes. I did end up with a pending code yesterday so it seems to simply delay it at this point rather than remove it.

You're kidding me? There are various f1 sounds? Who would have thunk it? I had no idea a 70's F1 sounded different from a MODEN F1. I thought they were all standardized because of the Geneva Convention.

Thanks for your "sound" reasoning. Now everything wot you wrote makes sense...

I just got back from the shop where I heard my 355 for first time with fapspeed headers, sport cats and Capristo 3. The first report from the shop was "it will make children cry when you pass by".
I think it might. I thought your video sounded great--civilized, but great. Mine is loud very loud. A friend's 355 with same set up as mine except his muffler is a Tubi was there with a speedo issue so they were running it at speed. Mine at idle was close to his at 4k.

Don't get me wrong--it sounds GREAT, I just hope I can live with it. I hope you are not deaf and from the inside there is no booming resonance at a cruising RPM and I can at least hear myself think. So I am hoping my experience is like yours.

If that's the case and no drivability issues I may learn to like frightening children, setting off alarms in garages, and stopping cows from giving milk.

    I will let you know--

google that old shell oil F1 commercial--that way you get here many generations of F1 sounds in one place for comparison not to mention and great commercial. you find one that, to me, sounds a bit like the 355

Can you post a video clip of the sound? Would love to hear it as it should sound basically exactly the same as mine only quieter since I don't have cats. It also sounds like you have the bypass valve wired open if it's that loud at idle, the Capristo is depressingly quiet at idle without the valve open, much quieter than the Tubi that came with it.

It is loud in the cabin with the valve open when cruising, but I would never do a long trip in this car so I can live with it. I can barely talk on the phone when cruising unless I granny shift to 6th when cruising around town.

And scaring children and cows is fun! This one will do that and my last M3 I had 3" tubing ran from the headers straight back with a tiny magnaflow as my exhaust, no cats and it scared anyone around.

As I mentioned earlier my sound 3 was not good on first try. When I say not good I mean unlivable.
I called Taurino and they put me on the phone with Andrea. I was hoping that maybe the by-pass valve was just stuck open. Andrea calmed me down asked all the right questions and made it clear they were there to make sure I got what I needed.

He likewise felt, from my description that the valve was open. By the time I called the shop they too had figured it out and fixed it.

long story short--I drove the car today--It is fantastic--civil when you need it and raw when you want it. Granted I only got about 6 miles, but so far I am thrilled.

The guys at Taurino could not have been better deal with--My highest recommendation to Denis and Andrea
