Nah, he was a stiff. Andreas always did say he was going places, though...;)

    I did?

Last time I mentioned him during the season was my forecast that Brazil would be his last race. And voila.

I hate to say it, but Buemi sucked. Not sure Grosjean is any better, but at least he is in it.

That's his problem - he didn't stand out.

You don't need to be in a top team to stand out (see: Di Resta, Vettel, Kobayashi etc). There is no shortage of forgettable drivers in forgettable teams. Buemi was one of them :)

According to Blick Buemi will become the test driver for RB and TR. So his F1 ties haven't really been severed.

There are far too many drivers deserving a shot for F1 to have seat warmers.

Yeh, but crappy cars need crappy drivers. I hate seeing good drivers in bad rides.

Great drivers don't stay in poor cars for long but everyone has to start somewhere.

    +1

If they stand out in a ****ty car (Alonso, Vettel and Raikkonen for example) they get noticed by the bigger boys and get a ride there...Bit of a shame then that Massa is still the prime seat warmer; Last year should have been his last season as a Ferrari driver, unfortunately. Damn. Did I just turn this into an anti-Massa thread? ;)

    Not at all ;)
With Alonso as #1 the Ferrari second chair is a peculiar spot. That driver can't be a threat to Alonso but has to be able to step up if he drops out. Asking an F1 pilot to do that seems anathema to the normal competitive psyche.
This is the main reason I'm not a Massa baiter (no jokes please!). It seems unfair to dump on a guy who's role is to be good but not TOO good.

Maybe, but Massa is waaaaaaay too far behind Alonso to be useful to the team.

Does a better job than Eddie Irvine did to Schumacher.

    There's the rub.
Unfortunately there is a shortage of willing second bananas in F1. Everybody's a diva.

Webber pretends he's not number 2,... and Horner humors him.

Webber still believes he has a shot. Massa knows better.

Depends on how you define "doing a better job". Measured in WDC chances, this is highly debatable:

While Massa came closer to the WDC than Eddie by 1 point, we should not forget that Massa was gifted a 14 point swing by the FIA to make the championship more entertaining.

Hasn't admitted it to himself yet... well, more accurately hasn't admitted he's a #2 driver - he just thinks he's being treated as a #2 driver.

Other than Massa what #2 doesn't think that?
