Many of us will not do Sundays. We were actually planing on looking at Sat Feb 18th in Baton Rouge. I was going to check out either Coffee Call on College Dr or Rue Beignet off of Highland. Tanger will work for a location if that is the preference.
Is there any interest??????? Im sure we can get many of the cars back that went on our drive the other day with Vinnie.

I hope "set in stone" doesn't mean set in stone. As Gemlender said, Sundays aren't good for me either.

However, I will be there on the 18th. Just let me know a time and where my coffee is coming from.

Hey guys, just a few thoughts while were on the subject.

First, I agree with Gemlender, sundays have in the past been very difficult for me to set up events, even going so far as to have to cancel.
Many folks have obligations that will not allow them to join, ie. church, family, football.
If this is to be a monthly thing there are some diehard Saints fans (ME) that wont be there for at least 4-5 months out the year :)

Also, and very importantly, safety. Most of these evnts are sure to spark a drive afterwards and being that it will be wrapping up around noon, so will churchs and most of the good roads for drives have many of them on it, so you can expect public safety to be a factor.

Just and idea, maybe a alternating sat/sunday each month. I know that could get confusing but as ive learned with my drive events, its impossible to please everyone.
And I also agree that the more frequent these events the more likely to lose there luster and eventually fizzle out. Just my opinion.

Again in the safety area, most people will be out nd about on sunday which is great for the public to come see the cars but again, more people on the road if there is a drive afterwards which we all know will happen, lol.

As for the C&C on the 18th, its a go in my book, I will be sending out invites as soon as the location is determined. That will be this saturday as some of us are meeting at Rue de Bignet to discuss with the mgmt about the meet.

    Stay tuned

I agree with Vinnie's points about moving to a Saturday.

If we do 2/18 this month, does this mean we are going to get together every third Sunday of every month?

Regarding monthly...my observation of C&C in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles (word from friends), and Atlanta (word from friends) is that every month their meets get larger, not smaller. Sure, we aren't in a "metroplex". But there are lots of cars, clubs, makes, and enthusiasts down here and they just need to be encouraged to come out of the woodwork.

I agree, but I am going to guess that Dallas has their C&C in Dallas, not Ft. Worth and Houston does not have C&C in Galveston or Beaumont. Following that logic, I disagree with the BR thing, but again I will disclose that I just flat out do not like BR. If it's held in the NOLA metro (NOLA, Metairie, Elmwood, etc) I'm game, but I have no reason to drive to BR unless it is enroute to Houston or to my family ranch in the Tyler/Longview area.

I actually like Baton Rouge. I don't see the issue with it. Sounds like you just might not know the city very well.

And don't forget, Dallas is so large that the suburbs can be about an hour or more apart, so it's not all that different since our cities are each about an hour apart. (PS Their C&C is at a giant BMW dealership in Plano...for us the equivalent would be holding our C&C in say...Carencro)

    I like it.

Personally I don't like New Orleans, probably for the same reasons you don't like BR. But if there is a good car show there I will drive out of my way to go. I'm not sold on just keeping it in Baton Rouge. It's just a central place for the next one. First one was in New Orleans (and I went), then in Covington (again I attended). If Smoky puts one together in Laffayette I will still go. This is not a "New Orleans C&C" or a "Baton Rouge C&C", but if people want to make it a monthly meet in a central area I will be fine with that also. Vinnie had such a good turn out of cars this past weekend with just our small group of friends that we decided to expand on it.

If so, then may I suggest we move to a first or last Saturday of the month schedule, beginning in March? It may just be me, but saying "the third Saturday of the month" just makes me want to pull out a calendar to figure out when the heck that will be.

So to try to keep the momentum allow me to recap where we are...

    Lousiana C&C

    -First Saturday of the Month

-Next meet will be in March (since Feb is occupied with Mardi Gras and what not)

-We still need to decide on a location. So far Tanger Outlet has been proposed as a fair compromise location for south/central Louisiana. Chateu Cafe has also been proposed but is considered much more inconvenient for folks not in New Orleans. Perhaps we could alternate venues from month-to-month but then that could lead to the same consistency issues we've been having and that could result in confusion and smaller turnouts.

If folks want to see other locations on the table then please chime in.

Feb is going to go by quick. If we want to get in a couple of these before it starts to get real hot then we need to secure a location.

I vote for Tanger because of the location (central, good proximity to driving roads, relatively remote).

Awesome! That's good news. I had some folks pinging me so I thought I'd prod a little. I've been referring everyone back here to this thread on fchat so when the conversation stalled I think folks got concerned. :) That's good! I think it speaks to a good turnout. I've already heard several people say they are very thankful this event is finally going monthly!!

Would there be any interest in doing one of the Cars and Coffee events on the MS coast? If so, I can set something up at Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis. Plenty of food, pastries, Starbucks, (not to mention slot machines) and a very large parking lot. If the location rotation is still on the table this is an option.

...just a thought for later in the year if there is any interest.
