You guys come down here from whatever cultureless suburban desert you live in, enjoy one of the great cities in the world and feel free to criticize it once you're back home, feeling safe, surrounded by drywall. It's stupid, and I just won't have it.
What baiting? You're from New Orleans and you let people insult your city that way? You must have been born elsewhere. I'll bet you were, or else you're a politician, hoping to rise through the ranks of Ferrarichat. How amusing.
I am glad you are amused, but you should have realized from the very beginning that Todd has a very low likelihood of being swayed, which is why it is better to just agree to disagree. Was his post in poor form? No doubt about it. Yet, why you chose to try and get personal with me simply tips the misplaced anger meeter too much. I gave fair warning in order to try and keep the peace, so for the blatant ignore plus subsequent personal insults you have earned a 2-day ban. Todd, it is pretty rude to come into a regional forum and start dissing the area. That being said, a one-time comment is not against the rules and you are entitled to your opinion. I just don't know why it was necessary in the first place. That also being said, you too have ignored the kind directive to disengage and will get a 2-day ban for the implied threat of violence in your last post.
I must admit that I have a marvelous time whenever I go. NO is reminiscent of many of my favorite port cities, try Marseilles or Trieste. They all do have aspects that are better avoided, but all have an aura about them, too, a combination of mystery, old world class and debauchery. Fun stuff! I, of course, always stay out of the more unsavory parts. John, don"t say a word!
What is there to say that hasn't already been said of many a great scholar, leader, or aficionado of the night/arts? Although I hope that the Ramos Gin Fiz will be repeated...in good health
I am very impressed with the entire operation and the management team. Its a blast to run the big north track and or just do some karting with the kids. With time NMSP should become one more reason for tourist with an interest in racing come to New Orleans. It is a win-win for all of us who love to race and love our great city. Mitchell
Let me explain myself as apparently I have just taken a dump on Nola and left town. All I said was that Nola was a great town and a great town to leave. What that means is that I love coming to Nola and pumping untold thousands of dollars into its economy on a regular basis, and then being able to leave all those dollars for the good people of Nola to do with what they want and for me to get back to my home. I will not however apologize for that point of view. I certainly don't see it as rude, insulting or inflammatory. Sorry to have to waste time on this.
Oh, you'd enjoy it. We''d wind up friends. This is is just how I am. My suspension was like being back in Jesuit High School when Brother Standish told me I was No.1 on the suspension list. Thank God I avoided that, because you were sure to flunk out if you got suspended. This forum has room for people with big egos -- it's actually made for people with egos and the anger that accompanies that. I must commend the moderator for not taking down my inflammatory posts, nor can I refrain from admiring his moderate and literate responses, but I've really enjoyed injecting some pepper into this normally somnolent forum. Now, get out your dictionaries and look up somnolent.
I agree, my intent wasnt violence as it was suggested by the mod, but rather just to meet you face to face so that we get a better understanding of each other. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Now back to the regularly scheduled program.
Wow, Todd got a 2-day ban, too! I just read that. John, that was unjust. All he said was okay chief. I was much worse.
Todd, it's better to pretend to keep up the feud. The rest of this forum is like intravenous oxycontin. Oh, wait... The face to face' comment...About 2 months ago on one of the other forums some guy named Angelo Buccaro or something close to that,of Los Angeles, submitted a post that began with 'Good evening, gentlemen, I just smoked 3 cars on thefreeway this evening in my (some kind of Ferrari) and it was great etc., etc.' Needless to say, this provoked an outpouring of hypocritical Puritanism from the Ferrarichat community -- 'You idiot, you could have killed somebody blah blah blah --resulting in poor Buccaro, who was no doubt drunk while composing his initial post, listing his telephone number for any Ferrarichat critic to use in arranging a fist fight between them. At this point the moderator stepped in, suspendedBuccaro for belligerency, and removed his posts. I then started a 'Defend Angelo Buccaro' post, which garnered little support, to my amusement, which is why I started it to begin with. Still don't you think you all should start a 'Defend Todd And Bill' movement?
There you have it folks, genuine reconciliation and feel good posting. I'll buy both you guys a drink at the drop of a hat. Hooray to mankind and the Internet. In all seriousness, when is the local Fchat crew ready to organize a karting free for all?
John, you see how much more fun the whole thing can be if you throw out a few suspensions? Seriously, provocative behavior has its merits.
Back to the track thing ..... I got excellent reports on the speed of the track Chumpcar ran on , somewhere around 400 laps in a 12 hour race ! Speeds thru the esses with a terminal speed after them about what they were at the end of the straight . Everyone loved the track and the winner was a fellow Floridian group that brought the hardware back to FL !!!! Small field , likely due to the race being originally scheduled a month or 2 ago , and not all could do the new date. 1 19 Team Infinniti 397 11:55:13.104 1:30.088 248 71.930 2 30 Kentucky Spirits 394 11:56:46.079 3 Laps 1:29.574 195 72.342 3 61 Theissen's Revenge 390 11:55:40.533 7 Laps 1:30.147 124 71.883 4 83 City Garage Racing 387 11:56:00.658 10 Laps 1:30.898 255 71.289 5 40 Flying Tigers 384 11:55:17.651 13 Laps 1:31.858 94 70.544 6 47 Team Paisley 359 11:55:19.689 38 Laps 1:33.445 223 69.346 7 74 Dirt Cheap Racing 359 11:55:33.960 14.271 1:38.974 262 65.472 8 33 Nemesis 338 11:56:37.400 59 Laps 1:29.827 267 72.139 9 23 Escort Service Providers 337 10:35:29.918 60 Laps 1:34.796 178 68.357 10 13 Protech Racing 313 11:55:12.942 84 Laps 1:35.558 127 67.812 11 5 Flying Gizzard Racing 299 11:56:15.135 98 Laps 1:34.716 88 68.415 12 53 Team Disinformation 296 11:56:55.293 101 Laps 1:36.197 223 67.362 13 45 Flying Crawfish 241 11:55:42.547 156 Laps 1:34.833 75 68.331 14 66 Jagginoff 225 11:56:00.451 172 Laps 1:35.014 146 68.200 15 22 Team Blue Goose 167 4:47:31.300 230 Laps 1:31.174 104 71.073 16 1 My Little Pony 143 11:50:57.239 254 Laps 1:35.843 21 67.611 Everything from a couple VW rabbit/golf's miatas , BMW E30's 1 jag sedan with a chevy V-8 The "JAGGANOFF" Infinity E30 won it , Ford escort . it was a nice day for some track time, I pulled out the camera many more here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/syf0n/sets/72157629075464959/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdOEoJ1phEQ[/ame] Track video from the NOLA Motorsports Park, New Orleans--1/14/12. First public event--these were the first two cars on the new track. I hung back of 355 to avoid the paint damage. Go to 10 minutes to see things pick up. Watch it full screen. NOLA Track in New Orleans, first public track day, first run group, video from Phil Crain's 2012 GTR, initially following red Ferrari 355 in advanced group. Track was dusty, virtually no rubber was laid down, temps in the 30's, so we are talking slippery. GTR followed 355 for half the session until some of the dust was blown off (trying to preserve the paint, eh), go to 10 minute point to where I passed and opened it up. Speed at the end of the straight was 150. Only part of the front straight was open--when they open the rest of it, speeds will be much higher. Best lap 1:24:59, altho it was going down about 2 seconds per session, so look forward to a better future.
thanks to you both, looking forward to seeing you out there in the coming weeks -- I'm hoping the weather holds.
I have yet to see Richard take a less than great photo or at least if he does we never get to see them ;-) If it does not rain us out I will see some of you on the North track in the morning. New 285 P-888's on all four and I just can't wait to see a bit of oversteer in the GTR. MM
