I prefer Mclaren's sidepods and believe they have done a better job as they have a more of a hypotenuse to the center line and floor of the car. Ferrari in the interest of having airflow at the lowest possible area to the CoG hindered that the area above the sidepods. I suspect Ferrari's intentenions are to blow as much air over the diffusor as possible while Mclaren just wants volumes of air getting back to not only the diffuser but also the beam wing. I wonder if Ferrari's exhaust system, which appears to best serve the beam wing will hinder the car in turns due to flow differences. Image Unavailable, Please Login
How about the front wing? It's the one that Massa had that had that bad wabble, I hope they got that fixed or it could be a rough start to the season.
not at all. Looks a little wider on the upper end really. The sidepods are only tighter at the lowest area towards the rear. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Look at the size difference of the engine air intake boxes. The Ferrari is really small compared to the Mac. Advantage Ferrari? The top view comparison of the 10-11-12 is really cool. The 12 is radically different.
What "new rules"? It's the first one they've built to the new rules! [So I guess you can say it's the best yet ] Cheers, Ian
Don't think so..... Surely, they've gotta be where I highlighted below; Still searching out more pix, but first impressions suggest it is very radical; - They've gone away from "tightening" the rear - Ballsy move nicely highlighted by the 3 year comparison pix. - If the highlighted doohickey is indeed the exhaust, they're blowing it onto something!..... - The tea tray seems to have a front mounting "vane" - Interesting. As has been said, if it removes some doors all will be forgiven and we'll grow to love it! Cheers, Ian Image Unavailable, Please Login
The body by the ACER seems to be the exit for cooler flow, they're speeding it up to influence the aero on the rear diffuser area.
Possibly. Where the hell are the exhausts at though?! A picture that *almost* flatters it..... Cheers, Ian Image Unavailable, Please Login
It does look better from this front angle. You know, beside being ugly (which I will get over if it's fast), it still has FOUR shields on it which IS retarded.
Love that view above from straight on... Is it possible that the very deliebrate step up on the nose could actually provide more front downforce? Realize it was done this way for other reasons but the straight on front view seems to really show a 45 degree surface to push against at speed...?
If I hear the Spanish and Italian National Anthems at the end of GPs on a consistent basis I won't give a f what it looks like...
Why do you think that? Round here, Fred's *the man* and Phil's just a washed up loser who should have been fired years back Cheers, Ian
I always stand behind Ferrari in F1, but the last time I wanted to get behind something that ugly, I was too drunk to stand. Mark
If it gets Ferrari to a chamionship with this car, it will be the most beautiful Ferrari ever built. A tool is fashioned to do a job. Aestheics for the sake of aesthetics does not make for a winning car. The engineers have put their efforts into winning the championship, not to give an audience eye candy. If a woman has all the proportions and looks good in a bikini but doesn't "perform" then all you can do is ask for your money back after the session as the promise didn't live up to the expected moment. A woman who has some aesthetic "character" who can also cook and clean and hold a conversation as well as perform is a much better choice than one who has the looks of a super model, but has a very nasy V.D. and is dumb as sh*t. In racing, it's results that count. It's how you do, not how good you look doing it. The true Tifosi will remain loyal, those who judge by only the shape of the wrapper are not the true followers. JD
Ha! - Nick T at last commenting on the flappy wing - I'm now even more convinced they're up to something...... They told us it was "just a badly made part" last year....... Expect this sucker to be dragging on the ground yet still pass the Charlie tests..... Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/97297
That nose is supposed to improve safety standards? Looks like it can kill someone! Ugly as hell. Mclaren did an awesome job.
This really ugly front is just a continuation from their recent street cars. The 458 nose is horrible, the Cali nose is simply deformed and the FF, well......heave and puke
