I was driving on the expressway today when I spotted a silver MP4-12C cruising along. It was the first one I've seen in person and I was quite excited. An older gentleman was driving it at an easy 55 mph, which was good because I got a good look.

What did I think? Well, I thought the MP4 was fairly good looking, but it just didn't have that wow-factor. Granted, this particular car was not painted a flashy color and, while it wasn't dirty, it wasn't sparkling clean. Still, I got a good idea of its shape and its overall road presence. It certainly isn't a dud, but I don't think it's anywhere near as sharp looking as the 458. Quite frankly, even though it's a more modern design, I don't think it's as nice looking as a 430.

I didn't post this to spark a 'which car is better' thread, there are plenty of those already. It's just my opinion about seeing the MP4 for the first time. In conclusion...I respect the MP4, but I would much rather have the 458.

I saw one out in Napa back in the beginning of November. A deep/dark metallic red color with lots of carbon fiber. I thought it was great looking. It was parked the first time I saw it, so I got to spend a bit of time walking around it and digesting the looks. I later saw it driving on the road. As many others have alluded to, I didn't think it looked as sexy as the 458, but it's still a unique looking car with a great presence. I'd have one in my garage, but not before the 458. I guess that's one of the many reasons I'm addicted to FChat and not a McLaren forum. ;-)

Interesting, sounds like a cool color. The MP4's a nice enough car, but something about its body reminds me of a model car that was pulled from a mold. The 458's design is more interesting, more passionate, IMO. Still, the MP4's a pretty good first effort for this class of car.
