What a magnificent book, Matthias. You have filled a large gap in literature on our cars and done so quite splendidly and thoroughly. Only an enthusiast could have written such a book.

    Congratulations!

As I was telling Matthias earlier today, beyond the scholarship and writing effort exhibited in his book there is a tremendous accomplishment in artful photography and layout design. Its execution befits its subject matter. I really think this is a "must have" for any serious Ferrari book collection.

Matthias, what a great book! we got ours a couple weeks ago and i just got into it over the weekend...a lot of memories flooded back....my first Ferrari was a 73 Dino..#05506, an almost new car in 1975 for 18K..Fly Yellow/Black and factory chairs and flares version that I sold 10 years later at 6-7 times the money to help my kids with college..This particular Dino was on the Feb.1974 cover of Road & Track as a Rubino/Tan car but I really fell in love with the yellow..which was a stellar repaint....I have had a lot of cars since but None I've liked better...thanks again

It is truly a spectacular book. As I said, only a real Dino enthusiast could have produced it.

    Andres

PS: Perhaps without meaning to, Matthias has tilted the table heavily against prancing horses on Dinos. They will not be a feature in future restorations!

One can only hope! I've always thought the Ferrari and prancing horse logos on Dinos have always looked tacky. The Dino is a car that, maybe more than most others, looks best completely original and stock, imo.

P.S. No offense to any of you who have these logos. Just an opinion. :)

    Matthias-
i got my book a few weeks ago and read it while on vacation last week. It is a great book- very professionally done and really informative. Thanks for your hard work! I have a few follow up questions that perhaps I missed. I am more curious for my M gt 1971 # 01832
1)are the dash vents open slotted type like the footwell vents or are they like the dash vents on my '74 gts (have a Dino script)?
2)is there an ID plate on the LHD B pillar / door post?
    3) are all hoods aluminum- on all models?
    4) did the euro version have a single set of points? My dist is the R1/R2 model
    5) I found two mounting locations for the antenna on the roof- one was at the forward edge and one was at the backward edge- which is correct?

I have certainly enjoyed this book! Thanks again

    Many thanks.
    To your questions:
    1) yes the dash vents are the same like the footwell vents
    2) no
    3) only the front hoot is aluminum on your Dino
    4) depending on the model, for your Dino have a look on page 180, picture from Adrian
    5) roof antennas haven`t been fitted by the factory
    Regards Matthias

re 4), see here for additional details, amending Matthias bible: http://www.dinoplex.org/#Marelli_S125

Dinos always had two set of points but the wiring and setup (three cams, later six cams) changed over time. Your Dino originally came fitted with a S125BX (R1 terminal only, 3 cams), if you have an R1 and R2 terminal then your Dino received a S125C (R2 and R2 terminal, 6 cams) somewhere later in it's life.

This info is really helpful! I checked my dist and it says (hard to read); 5010256 3 s 125 c and stamped on the plate is "8" and "4b" and on the side of the dist there is "r1" and other side "r2" so i guess it was changed to the single set of points ...very much appreciate the insights! Thanks
