    Were you at Autoclassica? Alberto from Marazzi told me he spoke to a someone from Holland this weekend.

    Very interesting to hear that your car belonged to Mr. Marazzi! I had a conversation with him yesterday were he told me that he also had an Islero, as he recalls it was silver with a black interior. It seems that yours exactly matches this color scheme. Maybe not a coincidence.

    Yep, I went friday to Autoclassica, I spoke to Alberto there . He would ask Mr Marazzi if he still has some history and photo's on the 400GT.

    Any chassis number on this car? Beautiful!

    Yeah, very few had that badge. I wonder how many? Maybe the first year's production, 13? (just a wild guess based on nothing)

    PS: It has the more modern grill... so definitely not one of the first cars. In my photos, by the time they got to 109 they had the "new" (standard) lambo badge. Could this be 107? I have photos of it in bare metal...but with that older badge: http://www.400gt.com/misc/107-marcel/350.htm

    Very nice. Delivered Aug 6, 1966, a month before mine. The curious thing I do not understand -- yours is a 2-wiper car and was delivered to Italy. Mine a single wiper car delivered to the USA (Kaplan). So the idea that the move from single wiper to dual was for US federalization simply can't be true.

    Another Lamborghini mystery. :)

    Looking at marcel wallenburg register of dutch 400gt, it shows
    459 interim 2 wipers
    637 2 "
    655(yours) 1 "
    712 2
    730 1
    757 2
    769 1
    then
    1090 1
    1156 to 1321 2 wipers

    So it seems there is no logic at all to 1 or 2 wipers, but that is ofcourse the Italian way.

    Eeuhhh....Just a small note to avoid confussion here:

    The Interim was 0469, not 0459.
    And Fred's 0655 is of course not in that list of Dutch cars,
    but added to compare only by toto70.

    Great photos of the gorgeous early 350GT at Milano Autoclassica. Thanks for posting them!

    I have seen three different styles of bezels around the central gauge cluster in the 350/400GT: (1) metal, as in the Autoclassica car and also the 350GT shown below that is advertised on Anamera by a private owner in California; (2) leather, or at least something dark colored, as in the 350GT currently being advertised by Lamborghini Houston; and (3) wood, as in the 400GT (Interim) advertised on Anamera by Classic Car Service in Belgium. The Belgium 400GT also seems to have fewer switches under the gauges. Is there any rhyme or reason to the changes, or is it somewhat random, as with the single-to-dual wipers?

    The modern grill has maybe been added afterwards. 106, Edmond Ciclet's car has a black badge but with a very specific early mounting, different from the standard black badge. Would be nice to make a small registry of early badges!

    The "wood" one is simply "a sticker." That's on my car, which has an unrestored interior. It's like a vinyl strip or something, I haven't dug into it, but it's definitely not wood.

    Also that black one looks like black krinkle coat paint to me, maybe like you'd use on the valve covers, exhaust, etc. ie: "What everybody was using before carbon fiber came along." I don't think it's factory, but I certainly could be wrong on that.

    The brushed or "turned" aluminum "bezels" are more typical for the 350GT, and wood-like sticker for the 400GT 2+2.

    Frankly, as the 350 production morphed into the 400 production then to the 400 GT 2+2 production there were all sorts of interesting factory variations. The cars changed a lot when it comes to these details -- fewer switches and such is common. The dashes changed -- of course, not to mention the bodies, engines, etc.

    Interesting stuff, and very few 2 cars were the same -- which of course is why you can get away with bloody murder in a "show car" -- the judges just woudln't know the difference!

    Thanks for the information about the gauge cluster bezels, Fred. That's another reason why I love these old bangers: nothing cookie-cutter about them.

    It is possible that no two were the same. Jack (Riddell) thinks that, and I haven't seen anything to dispute that theory.

    They were definitely tailored to the owner, I think early on Ferruccio was trying hard to offer his customers a one-up on Ferrari.

    condition and last I saw it, it started right up and sounded perfectly powerful and

    A friend of mine just asked me about steel vs aluminum 350GT: How many 350 had the aluminum body?

    I'm going to give a ballpark answer here.

    Almost all 350 GTs had an aluminum body. When they moved to the "interim" -- many of which were 350s -- they changed over to steel bodies. (ie: the last batch of bodies from Touring were steel, in preparation for the 400GT 2+2 I'm guessing)

    If there were, say, 25 interims/400GT "steel" cars, then that would mean about 25 more aluminum 350GT "interim" cars.

    ie: roughly 100 aluminum 350GTs, 25 steel 350GTs and 25 steel 400GT/interims.

    (again -- ROUGHLY)

    I know this sounds weird, but that's my ballpark guess. And it can't be off by much.
