starting to research next car purchase and scud is top of my list. love the looks, sound, feel of it.

came across audi rgt which is not much more for a new one. looks nice and sounds good too but not as great as scud in those respects. 560 hp, tons torque, awd, and warrantee compensate though

can anyone here compare the 2? how about rgt vs lambo g superleggera? thanks

I don't think you will get an unbiased answer here. I vote scud - my favorite car but that RGT is a ho ride as well and you probably won't run into another.

The Audi will always be an Audi. The Lambo will always be a premium Audi. Thats my opinion.

This is an unbiased opinion, though hardly anyone would believe. The R8 V10 was my choice of upgrade from my BMW M6 and 996 TT. I test drove it and loved how comfortable the car was. Sound system was top notch, leather smells great, cabin quality was superb. Then a mate of mine suggested I should try a "real" supercar and not a wannabe. I took his offer and tested an innocent looking 430. Worlds apart....

The Audi will drive and handle like any other Audi, and there's nothing wrong with that. The R8GT transmission is no big improvement over the regular R8 or R8 V10s that I've tested. The car is comfortable but driving I feel lazy driving the car around town. I feel more superior than the car. It feels like it could be easily tamed.

The Scud in contrast, feels alive. Push her limits and she'll remind you quickly who's boss. And I like that in a car. Makes it more interesting.

The Lambo feels heavy and tiresome to wrestle around town. Plenty of torque and power though on the straights.

So if you want the best sports car around town, get the R8 GT.

But if you want the best supercar, the Scud wins hands down.

Thats the only reason I would consider buying a Lambo!!!!!

Get the Scud, or wait for the 458 Scud, if you have peritonitis and an extra trust fund.

*peritonitis, got to love spell auto-correct.

Go drive them both. Audi has a crap transmission! Just drove an Aventador, a 458, and a Scud at Exotic's Racing today. Guess which car handled the best. Hands down the Scuderia. The extra power of the other cars made no difference.

Er, not quite. The R8 and R8GT does not drive like a front-engined Audi, MB or BMW...nor do those three brands tend to drive alike...not to mention that's a massive generalization given the proliferation of models they offer.

R8s are neutral cars that turns-in just as any properly set up mid-engined car should. Their "feel" is entirely comparable to a mid-engined Ferrari except they ride a lot better...which might lead some to label them as boring.

R8 GT is an awesome car and bristles with energy and charisma.

Scud is awesome-er though... ;-) (as well it should be considering original MSRP)

I came from an R8 6-speed and test drove a GT at my dealership a few times last month before buying my scud. I think maybe because I had an R8 for awhile, the GT didn't get my juices flowing and the r-tronic in the GT is still a piece of junk imo.

Im not sure why pple think the R8 drives like any other Audi, because it doesn't. I had an S5 w/ the R8 and it drove nothing like it. The R8 was far more agile and the power delivery was far more instantaneous and peppy. One thing they have in common though, is that they are both amazingly comfortable and great daily drivers.

A scud and GT comparison is like comparing a habanero to a jalapeño chilli, a Brooklyn Decker to a Gwenyth Paltrow if that makes any sense.

    Great cars, just very different.

I had never driven any of the cars, except a 458 briefly in rainy weather in Seattle. I bought the Scud based on the looks, and all the glowing recommendations from owners here. After 5 paid laps, and two free laps thrown in because of slower traffic, I was amazed at the level of grip the Scuderia had. The sound, the shifting, turn in, the balance, it is just unbelievably thrilling.

I too thought about the R8GT, as an alternative to the Scud and 458, but until you go drive them, you just won't understand.

Can't comment on either, but i know a local dealer here in chicago that has an allocation for the new R8 GT spyder if you decide to go that route. (no affiliation just trying to help you out). If interested let me know I can put you in touch with them, but let me know sooner rather later.

I dont get the spider version at all. No tracks will allow it without rollover protection so why get it over std model for street use only? 16m makes much more sense if want convt. Too much $ for me so i will stick to coupe
