Definately not a good way to get a new series championship
started but at least Audi is coming with some numbers.

I am a big fan of Sebring 12 hour and I am getting excited about the FCRA (CCA) or whatever we are called, support race at Sebring this year. Just the fact, we are in the presents of AMLS cars is an honor. So, I posted Rob Lay's video from last years FCRA race to get us pumped up!!

I've seen no press on the AAR pencil car. You know the narrow front track car that started out as an Indy car. Sebring was to be a warm-up for LeMans.

The only recent news on the Deltawing project was they
named Marino Franchitti as lead driver.

Michelin had reported that they'd delivered special tires
to the team which would allow them to begin windtunnell
    testing but nothing after that.

Since there hasn't been so much as an official test and the
car wasn't at the Winter Test, it's not likely it will be racing
at Sebring as one thing you don't want to do is enter the
12 Hours with no testing completed.

A good guess is that if/when the car does break cover
that the end product will look a good bit different than
    the original designs.

Sebring was never in the cards, and while designed by a team consisting of AAR members, it's all being done by Duncan Dayton's Highcroft Racing. He's got a lot of private testing scheduled and then two Le Mans test days scheduled.

If I had a GUARANTEED Le Mans entry, I wouldn't feel like I had a gun to my head to beat up the car at Sebring. Last year's effort was financed in part by HPD to shop the cars (successful) and by Duncan, because he's an enthusiast and racer FIRST!

The word is that Duncan Dayton is distancing himself from the project and Don Panoz is taking it over.

Perhaps ALMS and Sebring were hoping the Deltawing
would be at the 12 Hours as it sure was part of their
PR package but that dosent seem to be the case any
    more.

    From Fiona Miller:

RISI COMPETIZIONE ELECT NOT TO ENTER 2012 SEBRING 12 HOURS
    *
Houston, Texas, February 24, 2012.** Risi Competizione has elected not to enter the 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the first round of the 2012 American Le Mans Series.
    *
Team Principal, Giuseppe Risi, spoke of the difficult decision:* “Unfortunately the current economic climate has not allowed us to approach the 2012 season as we would have wished.* None of us want to go into an event such as Sebring feeling less than 100% ready and prepared, and we aren’t at that point.*
    *
“Risi Competizione, racing with Ferrari, has been a stalwart of the Series for the last decade and we fully recognize the extremely high level of competition it supports.* To race a Ferrari is to enter into a partnership with history and legend.* The standards are so high that commitment must be total and complete.* Risi Competizione knows better than many what it takes to win the 12 Hours of Sebring, and I feel that, right now, we wouldn’t be representative of our best.”
    *
The Houston-based Ferrari GT team has not confirmed a program for the remainder of 2012 and options are still being considered.* These do not preclude entry to later rounds of the American Le Mans Series or other North American endurance races.
    *
To date, the team has won two ALMS championships, taken three class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, achieved 20 outright American Le Mans Series class wins and a 30 plus further podium finishes. *It has won the Twelve Hours of Sebring three times including the closest finish in the race’s history in 2007.

I will most definiely miss them and Guiseppe's warm welcome. Hope they can emerge later in the year. Hope that perhaps we might see him in Spa helping Luxury again. Thanks to all at Risi for the great racing over the years at the ALMS races...many fantastic memories.

Not RIP unless he says its so.

I am in talks with another team about sponsorship but I will reach out to Mr Risi now as well. I think that maybe he would sit down with me. I've been a very big fan of his and see that every word of what he says is the truth.

In the current conditions, I wouldn't call missing a race that big of a deal.

A dime to a dollar says they'll be back. :)

I hope things work out. Risi is too good of an organization not to be racing.
