Maybe all of the testing of the FF shouldn't have been in the ice and snow.

I received this email about it a couple of days ago.
    No argument here,

"In the latest episode of Ferrari Flambe I bring you the FF.

This one self immolated in China just the other day. Its really good to know some traditions are being maintained but I suspect "Trial By Fire" wasn't what they were hoping for.

Good going Ferrari. You have an unbroken record for a reputation of automotive self combustion since the days of the inside plug V12. Diligence, hard work and attention to detail has indeed paid off yet again. I do see however in the name of leaving no stone unturned the FF is designed to burn from back to front. Quite an accomplishment in a front engined car."

I am shocked this is happening again. The more I think about it I debate how shocked I should be. What kind of expectations are they setting for the typical Ferrari buyer? Is this something that would sway a buyer looking at other makes? I would think so.

It's what happens when you use a deep fat fryer in the back seat. They need to make it clear to owners that they should not use the FF as a food truck.

Looking closely at the picture, it looks as if the liquid on the ground is the combustible material that is burning, not the car. Is it possible that the car developed a large coolant leak that made it's way to the exhaust system and ignited?

    Just a thought.

    Coolant doesn't burn.

Fuel from the rear fuel tank does though.

As often? Serious question. I'm not up to date on the rate of new cars catching fire.

I was thinking the same thing. A compromised fuel system is MUCH worse than some glue on the exhaust system catching on fire.

Thank you, Roy, for always pointing out a Ferrari on fire while conveniently omitting stories about Lambos on fire. :)

OH cry me a river...get a frickn life..taken it so personel and getting your panty's in a bunch...LOL

ALL cars catch fire FROM all different Manufactures from time to time..Ferrari nor Lamborghini is the exception of the rule..

BUT if you want to get technical and USE Statistics..

Then let's start with the Video you posted of a Gallardo 3 plus years ago..and let's not forget the NUMBER of cars, 458 at least 6 that I know of and now at least 2 FF cars.. ALL in the last 18 months, a number QUITE a bit more then Lamborghini.

I hope you feel better now..equal reporting time and all, not like it's a "Dirty little" secret we have to keep quite about the Ferrari..OR the Lamborghini for that matter.

S**t happens..just so happen's to be more for one then the other currently.

Geez Roy did you forget to take your Geritol or is something making you uptight?? He did put a smilie at the end of his post you know. Like this.....:)

Do your numbers take into account total production numbers and the corresponding ratio? Ferrari builds 6,000+ cars per year where Lamborghini makes about half that? So I would expect the total number of Ferrari incidents to be about double or more of Lamborghini. In other words if you broke it down to incidents per number of cars produced wouldn't they be about the same?

:) ******OK, I honestly have no idea and don't really care either, just stirring things up a bit. ****** :)

I think both manufacturers make amazingly cool and fantastic machines. They both do it in what are realistically VERY small numbers by any other company's standards. I also know they get MUCH more attention when something goes wrong because of the brand. There likely wouldn't be many folks posting pictures here of a Ford truck catching on fire!?

    Have a great weekend everone!!!

Thanks..my point exactly..why does everyone think I have such a dis-like for Ferrari..I dont..just not the brand I choose..but it is still a exotic car..remember I owned quite a few of them..I even sell them from time to time..

I just lost intrest after the ROYAL screwing I got from FNA, it was the final straw and I changed camps..no big Deal..I am sure their is someone that has had a ROYAL screwing from LNA and changed camps..so we traded spots..big Deal..

JUST as their are LOYAL F car followers..their are LOYAL L car followers..I just happen to be a LOYAL L car follower as well as an Ex-F car follower..

    Life goes on.

I liked Roy's photos of his Lamborghini covered with snow! Maybe be should ALL do that to keep our cars from catching on fire!
