Watching Tin Cup on the Golf Channel right now...certainly not a cinematic classic...but a fun watch nonetheless.

That movie is several years late and Beane has lost some of his luster. Still, I loved the book, which IIRC was more focused on Bill James than Beane, and I will catch the movie at some point.

Act of Valor. I highly recommend this movie. If you're at all inclined to see war movies, you will enjoy it.

I like baseball but hate watching it on TV, the movie kept me entertained and the actors were good but I felt it was lacking something.

Oh, man. I LOVE Cape Fear, but I'd hate to be named Sam Bowden, and for Max Cady to troll this site! Yikes! *can hear the Sturm und Drang soundtrack . . . *

Speaking of our grownup Bobby Milk, I revisited Ronin yesterday. Go, speedracer, go!

I watched "The Birds" twice on cable this week. There are some really nicely directed scenes (Hitchcock) in that movie. And it features an Aston Martin!

The Whistleblower - This is a good movie. The actual whistle blowing was a little too Hollywood for me, I believe it should have been more realistic. It's sad to know that this really happens in the world.

I'm not a huge theater person. I much prefer to rent the movies after and watch them at my leisure without the crowds.

There are certain films that I will go to the theater for opening night. This one will be one of them...

Contagion was great...really well done, I thought.

    I saw the following recently:
    1. Safe House - great movie, just great. Could have used a bit more story, but the action more than made up for the predictable story line and lack of depth. Recommended.

    2. Act of Valor. Lousy acting. Great action. I liked it a lot overall, but some details needed to be fleshed out more. For instance, they repeatedly zero in on cobwebs and insects while the men are skulking about. People next to me asked me were wondering what that was all about. I had to explain that it was an attempt to show how stealthy they were being, even the cobwebs and insects were not being disturbed. The techno-thriller aspect of it could have been developed a bit more with better cinematography, but it was pretty cool as shown. Recommended.

    3. Lost. Great movie. Great story. Aimed at teens. Not very sophisticated...one step follows another and it's all very simple and straightforward. Still, a good, entertaining movie, though it won't have you on the edge of your seat, even though that's what it tries to do (I think). Recommended.

    4. Vow. Insipid. Avoid.

Really?!? Watched that with my wife the other night. Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Could have fit it into a 30 minute tv program...even with commercials...
