How is the air injection taken care of for the 5.2? The tubes are missing from the headers in the pics. JD
It is not re-used. The air injection system is strictly on US cars and aftermarket headers with these systems still trigger a CEL. We highly recommend a tune when using our headers to get the most performance gains and eliminate any CEL. We have a few sets that we'd like to see out of here Let us know guys.
The Supersprint headers does retain the stock air injection system. The picture below shows the U-shaped pipe connectors, and the threaded bungs on each collector. Overall, it's a simple, bolt-on application, as every individual component is designed to fall into place, and mate to the existing emission hardware, without effort, just like with the stock headers. No modification is needed to the air pump lines. We have paid attention to each and every detail in the design of our 355 headers, down to the point that we even machine the v-clamps, in house, from billet, to meet our own specifications. The Supersprint patented, floating collector's design, which neutralizes the heat induced tensions between the primary pipes, provides for an unlimited durability of the headers itself, and relieves the stress off the remaining exhaust components. In particular it greatly reduces the load placed on the muffler hangers, with each heat-cycle. There's a gallery on our website where you can see all the details of these headers: http://www.supersprint.com/en/prod-c-295-7180-8874-collettore_dx_sxbrsupersprint_design_patent.aspx Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn. This beautiful header system didn't get much love. USD to Euro is almost 1 to 1. Might be a good option to consider.
What was the cost? NM, I found it: http://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/ferrari-355-berlinetta-coupe--spider-94--99.aspx at 1:1 it's around $4100 with matching y-pipe adapters. This would be wicked with my straight through challenge exhaust, hmmm.....
Pretty creative of them to V-band clamp the exit for various configurations. I would imagaine this header system is easy to install/remove while the engine is still in the car. $4100 is the advertised price and it looks like Supersprint was open to group buy deals. I also wonder if the dyno testing was done on a 2.7 or a 5.2. I havea feeling it was done on a 5.2 and perhaps more gains would be seen on a 2.7.
