Depends how you set up the challenge. 355 would win if performance was your measure, but if you were evaluating it based on a raw driving experience (i.e. not a 'modern' ride) then the 348 would probably take it.* :)

If aesthetics comes into it, it's no contest at all... side strakes all the way!** ;) :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    * Note: I have driven neither car and just basing that on recalling the reports of others who have.

** Additional Note: Blessed as I am with the gift of sight, I can make this determination for myself.

Two totally different cars. If I had to pick one, it would be the 348.

Why does one have to win? A good 348 is a blast. I looked at and drove every 348 before settling on a 355, for me the looks and extra performance sealed the deal- But I'm always THIS CLOSE to adding a nice 348 to the stable...

Not sure I understand this. Parts will bolt from a 355 to a 348, so how are they totally different? Fairly different yes, but not totally. Pretty similar actually.

    But...the 355 is better :) I looked at both before buying a 355. I was scared of a 355, but even more so of buying a 348.

I wish my 355 had the steering (steering, not handling) feel of the 348... other than that I don't think there's much of a comparison ;-)

Although my 355 is in the shop right now....

First line, yes, this has always perplexed me as well. One more valve, one more timing belt, crappy headers and guides on the 355 :) some more electronics, a lot of shared panels...not HUGELY different.

The second line...you are clearly a heathen.

    :)

I should mention that I am currently pressing my Dad to buy a 355.

De-power the rack or put in the factory manual rack - it's available. No need to wish, would even be a free mod if you depower the existing rack yourself. I've done it on another car, it was not difficult. You'd save some weight and get a bit more power as well as you could get rid of the P/S pump and reservoir.

I like the looks and style of the 348 better for myself. I own a 348 and have not driven a 355 but have ridden in one. I agree that the 355 has more power and maybe better handling but it is a matter of taste. I would not buy a 355. For me it's the 348 and the next step would have to be a 458 except my wallet doesn't like the 458.

I know PS delete was an option from the factory. Does anyone know of any that were done that way?

I loved my 348, but I would prefer the power of the 355 - so, if I add another Fcar, it will likely be a 355 (stick, with ALL headers, guides issues DONE). A lot like one currently offered for sale here on Fchat.......

Yes I believe it is April's issue. I haven't actually seen it nor have I read the article but I understand it concludes by saying the 348 is the "smarter" buy.

I'd love to get a copy and read it to tell more but unfortunately that is all I have for now :)

If you want the sound and feel of what a classic Ferrari (that the legend was born from) should be then the 348 with a tubi hands down !

Im going to say they are different cars, ones the start of the modern time and the other is the end of the classic raw feeling. Its what you want at the end of the day and if that one is in your garage, then your the winner.

Yes, intetestingly the same conversations that appear on this forum. The 355 is the better "car" and the 348 the rawer experience. Depends on personal preferences but the 348 represents good value and is undeserving of the bad (refer LDM) wrap.
