Take a look at post 112 and 118 and it will all be explained. It's extremely clever and I'm sure really is amazing in person.

Cool but I hope the F1 development program wasn't compromised while this work was being done.
Although it might explain a few things about last year....

It's official, I love it! There seem to be more positive first impressions with the F12 than any other newly released Ferrari in my relatively recent memory. I bet this thing will knock your socks off when we are able to see a real one in the flesh!

Was this when they found that "error" in the airflow management software? :)

An integrated external cell phone for your mechanic.

    Or possibly this.

    +1

I actually see a better-proportioned descendant of the 612. It's almost like the 2-seater version of that car. Although I do see California/550/575 "hips" in the back.

I think Furmano's right, basic proportions look good but the details are busy. Presumably there for airflow reasons, not aesthetics.

It is more athletic looking than the 599, and shorter from what I've read.

Bullfighter: The F12 is getting smaller while the 911 is getting bigger. Sure you don't want to swing back to the F camp? :)

The F12 reminds me of those awesome 3D renderings that float about the internet showing what one persons idea for a new car might be. Just Google "Ferrari 3D Concept".

The incredible thing here is that Ferrari has brought the best of those ideas to life.

That, my friend, is the transfer of F1 technology to the road car...it is the fog light....

Not Ferrari creativity at its best.

For once, the car looks better in the photos than it does in reality

    Ugh

    No Sir!

Did go and give my GTO a big kiss though! It is confirmed, the GTO is the last of the big boy Ferraris. A modern F40 that gives you goose bumps BEFORE you get in it!

The back end is hmmm wrong and the car lacks personality

Interesting, could you elaborate? Particularly how you define personality.
    It photographs very well.

    It does photograph well.

It has some FF, some California, some 8C, some 550 and in. My view a front end that has a touch of Lamborghini

It does not give off charisma. That is my opinion. Technically brilliant. But does not have the elegance of a 599 nor the rawness of a GTO.

The fact that Ferrari need to put a big thick fog light and proudly announce that it is as on an F1 car tells you something!

I have an F1 car and have never paid much attention to the rain light! A necessity but hardly something innovative!

From the pics it looks like Ferrari is moving away from some of the"cartoonish" aspects of recent cars. Granted there are a few visual references to F1 that I could live without but all in all it looks like a step in the right direction.
Goes to show how you still need to see cars in person to really appreciate them. I look forward to my chance.

ok, I submit! I saw the rear 3/4 and was sold. Best rear end since the Stradale. Maybe in 5 years my income and the used price will align...

I think the F12 is much better looking, more athletic than the 599, but at 4618 mm for the new car versus 4665 mm for the old one it still seems sized for well fed owners.

(Although the 612 was 4902 mm, which is Belfast Shipyards length...)

I actually love the Aston DBS in this segment, despite the sameness of the marque's styling. It's just staggeringly gorgeous for a modern car, maybe the only modern car that truly is. But the F12 could be stunning in person, hard to say. I think it grabs some of the best elements of the 612 and California and integrates them well.

Not enamored with the 991. I think it's gone luxe. My brother's 997 is nice, and my 993 was a stunner. Nice car, but doesn't make me lust for a drive. I think the new Boxster may have eclipsed it in some ways.
