Any watch with a TachyMeter is a driver timing device for speed.

Any watch on your wrist while driving is a driving watch in my book :)

I like the Seiko chronos. They have a couple of 1/100 chronos with tachymeter. Go to their site and watch the chronos in action, it's a thing of beauty. I doubt you could hand time anything to more than 1/10 accuracy let alone 1/100, but it sure looks the business. The flightmaster is nice as well.

You can spend more if you really need to impress your boat buddies but for diving, there's the Ploprof and then there's everything else....

If you don't believe me, go right ahead and ask the shark that can't even eat it!!!!! :D:D:D

I sat with Michael Parmigiani for an hour checking out his prototype of this one a few years back. He was very proud of it....

Another hot driver is the RM 011

Does he speak any English now or do you speak French? When I met him about 15 years ago it was a very short conversation.

Does this one really qualify as a drivers watch? Hmm.

Nonetheless, I adore the minimalistic Patek Philippes - understatement is very attractive to me.

The watch in "Drive" was a prop, but such a pretty prop!

    Very good question!

    Just found this thread.

A watch with a chronograph would be what I consider to be a watch for someone who wanted to time other people driving. I would consider a "drivers watch" to be a watch that one would use while driving. In that case, the only criteria I could see would be one that would be easy to read, no?

I was thinking watches that had design inspirations from car design/motorsport/automotive history.

Something tells me it will cost far more than a second hand Ferrari... Maybe even a new one. This might be the first time I saw a really expensive watch and actually want it. Hope they pull it off and make a real model of the concept...

B.R.M. watches are cool as hell as well.

Edit: Louis Chevrolet got some cool stuff:

VTChris, what is the price range for Louis Chevrolet models, do you know?
