If this is how Canadians spend the winter then it doesn't sound too bad ?
That is true but I am learning that, as a Ferrari owner and also seeing other owners here on Fchat, that we absolutely cannot start calculating the cost of our time going into these babies because the cost of the restoration would become absolutely ridiculous....plus even thinking about it is scary so it's best to ignore that from the budget
Before you button everything up, if you want to check the polarity you can use a small battery to apply power to the speaker wires and check which direction the speakers move in, if the polarity is correct, they will move outwards.
Actually that's not a VW, it's an old Fiat 600 being restored. I am also Vice-president of the Montreal Fiat Club and I have a fiat 500 and a Pininfarina Fiat Coupè (that I just sold to a friend) Here are some pictures of a yellow and a blue Fiat 600 as well as a pictures of my white Fiat 500 and my red Fiat Coupè Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I made sure all the "+" wires went into the "+" on the crossover boxes so I assume it will be ok in the end but thanks for the tip.....
I saw some of you guys with those Fiat some years ago at the festival Ferrari in Mont-Tremblant. You were in the last row not too far from me and my friend with his yellow pantera. Was cool to see those little ones there. Next time I'll be looking for a F355 in red orange. Maybe at Italian car day in Toronto?
Not sure if I'll make it to Toronto this year but I will definetly be at the italian car parade in Ottawa and Montreal's official italian vehicle day which is the Fiat Breakout next July 8 (lots of Ferraris attend that show)
You will find most of the info on fiatclub.ca & amicicanada.com but they're not updated yet for 2012. The parade & ferrari festival don't have a website. PM me your email and I can put you on our email list so you'll get all the info regarding the activities
I had forgotten to post some pictures of the hvac panel repair process I did earlier. My toolbox looked pretty bad and some of the pop rivets were broken so it needed some restoration. I lathered it with some leatherique and let it sit for several days...the nice deep rich leather color came back to life. I'm happy that all the components are in the tool box and nothing is missing. However, the flat fix can bag was separate from the tool box and the bottom of the tool box had a piece of foam the same size. I removed the foam and now the flat fix can + all tools fit nicely in the box. I also repaired the rivets at the shoemaker for a big 6$. It's ready to go back in the car! So I decided to give the Kiwi black shoe polish trick a try and it seemed to work well. I cleaned all the rubber with a rag and some windex, let it dry and then applied some black polish with the applicator built into the bottle and using my fingers for the crevasses. Looks good for now but we'll see how long it lasts....I'm sure it will need to be reapplied every 6 months at least. More small details are being done to the car such as removing old glue in order to put in the new door sills, cleaning roof clipscrews with a toothbrush, cleaning the emblems before going in, removing the old stickers (especially the paint one indicating that the color is green) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
giving the rubbers a quick wipe with a rag and lacquer thinner strips the rubber back to OEM . don't soak it just wipe, it will remove any wax etc. ( i worked as a painter at a high end body shop for 7 years )
Received my exhaust, a beautiful Nouvalari supersport. As I said before, I would love a Carpisto but a Nouvalari is definetly more bang for your buck. It's going to be installed as soon as the car comes out of the paint shop back to the Mechanic. flat black has been painted on the inside of the bumper and I also installed my Hill engineering skid plates available at Ricambi. Took no time at all since the bumper was off the car. The hinge on the gas door was looking really horrible, dirty and rusty. Powder coating it made it look absolutely new and clean. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I put in the Hill Engineering passenger footrest. Was a little complicated since it did not come with instructions so I went with drilling 2 holes on the existing metal and screwed the plate onto it. I also put back in the radio, instruments, dash, air bag, binnacle, vents, tunnel, roof mechanism cover, black leather in the back, etc.... I tucked in all the loose wiring and the car looks really clean. It went pretty smoothly and looks really good. As you can see from the photos, the krylon textured paint and sem trim paint combination looks really good against the new HVAC panel. I hope it holds up..... All that's left on the interior are the seats and door panels at this point....
