Completly Agree. But feel that for the most part that you are wasting your breath. I'ne heard it all. Many on this board still believe the GTO is nothing more than a modified 599. That the factory is going to debase the GTO name by producing them for every 12 cyl model.... That the F12 GTO is coming after the Scuderia version...... That using the name GTO is simply a marketing tool. That its not really a GTO at all and has no racecar DNA. No matter how many facts to the contrary are presented the same tired misinformation continues to be dusted off and recirculated. Like a bad joke that refuses to die. Maybe its time we thought about grouping the 599 GTO in the 599 XX section.

So true, havent experienced that emotion of the GTO in a few weeks but a spirited drive yesterday re affirmed what a special emotive experience it is. People who havent experienced that will dust off those old tired arguments. Drive down a street here in Africa and when you have people shouting "GTO", jumping up and down in adoration, the scream of the V12, the sheer race car feeling, the aggressive beauty, the kick in the back when changing gear.

Wow that looks great. This car looks a lot better in "naked" pics than the Ferrari release photos.

Awesome looking car... love the way the brake duct flare out.
Headlights are similar but definitely different.. F12 has a nice curve on the inner side.
Looking forward to Geneva pics. Bet it looks stunning in that grey/silver, or grigio silverstone (my fave modern day F colour).

If the factory didn't debase the GTO name in the creation of the 599 GTO, why would a like-focused evolution - an F12 GTO - be a problem?

    +1 !!!!!!

Yes indeed. This is the first model since the 456 that I think will really do GFM justice. The contrast between elegance and ferocity will be exquisite with GFM.

I've noticed others complaining that the F12 "looks like......" but I like the family resemblance in the headlight treatment. I think it's good for Ferrari as a brand, esp. now with so many color combinations and such available through the Tailor Made program, which is utterly brilliant and by far the best response to after-marketers I've seen from a major make.

Indeed and more to the point, the latest Ferrari should make it's replacement seem somewhat dated- that's the point, even with Hondas.

Having said that, Ferraris have virtually always had a timeless beauty because the designers aspire to that. The 575 is still beautiful. The 599 still invites examination from several angles. And the GTO is still the GTO.

The F12 suits my personal tastes more than the previous models but I don't think this lessens their allure.

I never meant to say that the factory would never build another GTO based model. I just don't believe that Ferrari is interested in having an additional GTO line built every time the run of an existing 12cyl. model is terminated. There is obviously no way of knowing what the future holds. But the GTO name ,pedigree and history is taken very seriously by Ferrari and is not given out lightly. The 599 GTO represents that transitional bridge between past and current models. The last of the 12cyl Ferrari's that is much less civilized and much more raw than I imagine the F12 and any of its successors to be. Built before producing comfortable computer driven rockets."With hatchbacks for extra luggage space". As one member has already pointed out. It took 25 years before the third in the series of GTO's was built. I think it will take a lot more than 5/7 years before the next one takes its place......If ever. History as always will be the judge.

I honestly loved it at first sight, was moved at first sight. I haven't been moved by an F-car like this since the 360, to be honest. Although the 458 was close. The FF is magnificent to me as well, especially given its target market and use.

This though, affects me like music and the right lady.

As I say, "today, we don't have art, we have Ferrari."

I assume the color is Rosso Berlinetta, the new special F12 red. It seems close to Rosso Scuderia, having quite a bit of orange in it. They must think, and I agree, that the color does something for it. Reds do not necessarily make for a happy large Ferrari V12... IMO.

What a great handle for a sport-focused, limited-run front-engined Ferrari 12, though - the success of the 599 GTO being rolling proof! A like-lightened and properly de-contented F12 could bring that same level of GTO rawness. With SRT as part of the family now, maybe more raw, still - perhaps some production car track records in the offing? (the ACR's a hatchback, btw, and hauls luggage.). Make some new history.

The eventual release of a Scuderia version of the 458. May give us some insight on how far the factory wants to go in that direction. If Ferrari continues to blurr the lines seperating the GT and its sportscar division. Anything is indeed possible. Regardless.... Exciting times ahead.
