What side strakes??????????????
I would like to diplomatically sidestep the color issue, and point out my favorite view of the TestaRossa is from the rear. It's just so unique and WIDE! Here are two shots from last year's Charlotte Area Ferrari Enthusiasts "CAFE" get together. I copied my photos from where they are on Facebook, so the quality may not be great, but seeing these cars in the rain just makes the photos cooler in my opinion! it may have been mentioned before but I'm pretty sure I know the story behind that Pantera passing the Testarossa photo (and it is passing it). I think I am correct in saying the Pantera is/was owned by Tony Longhurst, a former Australian Touring car driver. Tony won the coveted Bathurst 1000 twice as a driver. The event is the Targa Tasmania, which is a pretty balls out amateur tarmac rally in the beautiful island of Tasmania, Australia. In this shot, I think the hard racer Longhurst was impatient to get past the more conservatively driven Ferrari and a few stone chips was probably the result. Tony wasnt new to the concept of an agressive overtaking manouver - take a look at this one which didnt end so well for both drivers.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh9NpI3GUVo[/ame] and to round it out, I actually following the first Targa Tasmania as a gopher for a former boss who was running a 246 gts in it.
and i stand corrected - the Pantera driver was not Tony Longhurst but another former Touring car driver Andrew Miedecke - got my Sierra drivers mixed up! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24yFKdmE0mk[/ame] the year was 1992 i think. the Testarossa driver was Scott Davis Miedecke flew a Perana Capri (v8 engined creation from South Africa) off the road and into the sea on a later event, so like many touring car drivers he like to drive at 10/tenths....
I agree, Black on black with tinted windows. This winter I also chrome plated the engine bonnet vents...I like the look with the two strips of chrome on top. This picture is last summer. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Picture not so good and car dusty as I just finished with engine work and new clutch. Vent also not clamped down as the bonnet will be going in for painting soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That chrome on black looks really good! I have a gold cavallino on the butt of my TR. I wonder if I can gold plate the strips like you did in chrome? My car is red. I think gold on red looks just as nice as chrome on black. Very sweet. I like what you did. ps: still need a small gold cavallino for my front grill. Leads...anybody?
Ebay. This may be the same that you have for the rear, but you could put in on the front also. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FERRARI-348-355-456-550-512-CAVALLINO-113-x-80-mm-GOLD-/350509578606?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item519bffb96e&vxp=mtr#ht_1658wt_1053
No problem to plate with gold or gold colored plating. The vents are alluminum so they need to be stripped and for chrome we needed to put a layer of copper so the chrome would stick. I agree gold and red looks nice together.
Sorry, I should have washed it...but I can't go anywhere until the snow melts. The wheels are 18" speedline wheels.
Black testarossa is still so sexy... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
