The rear of the Aventador J is actually even less attractive.

    yeah, exactly!

Ferrari needs to find new designers, because this whole thing is getting pretty ridiculous.

rear end is just disgusting. i wanna vomit.

One looks like a toy, the other one looks like a real GT sports car.

Nothing against the Aventador, it sure looks cool but the F12 is not supposed to look like a car screaming "hey look at me!!!!".

I want to make one thing clear. I LOVE Ferrari. I think the 458 is the most beautiful car in the world and by a huge margin.

What I just don't get is why the more expensive V12 always has to be less beautiful/desirable than the far cheaper V8. What is the logic of this?

Of course this wasn't the case when the 512BB and the Testarosa were around. But this all changed with the advent of the 550 Maranello. And now sadly it continues with the F12. :(

I also believe I am not alone in this thinking, because the market itself shows it in the way the V12's depreciate, whereas the V8's hold their value very well...

Also I hate to say this, but while the car is very low (which is a very good thing), lower even than the 599, to me, the design makes it look high. Sorry to say this, but it sort of looks like an SUV!

    Just my humble opinion...

But the 458 does! Everyone looks at it and admires the work of art that it is!!!

I own a 458 and it does not "scream" visually. It's beautiful I admit but it's also very subtle. All Lambo's "scream". That's why I won't buy one -- even if I love the way they look.

The Aventador screams --- and it needs to. That's why people will like them.

Not every car was meant for everyone. If it was, it would look very much like a Toyota Camry --- which is why they sell so many.

The 458 will turn more heads than the Gallardo!

I can't understand why Ferrari sticks with this no V12 mid engine or at the very least V12 front enigine but super exotic looking philosphy.

If people want a V12 GT then there is already the FF! Why have sort of two of them, when you can only have four in the entire range? Just doesn't make sense to me.

    Sorry to rant. :(

The Gallardo is like 1 million years old (at least it seems that way). And, I would not say that the 458 turns heads faster than a Gallardo --- even today. Most people think a 355 is a 2012 model anyway.

The F12 is an Italian muscle car in the same way the 599 was. It's front engine, rear drive, and aggressively styled.

The FF is a four passenger all weather family/business vehicle. The two are completely different.

Your argument makes no sense because you could say there was no need for the 599 when Ferrari already had the 612.

If you like the 458 better, BUY IT. If you want a mid v12, wait for the next enzo. Ferrari has their market down pat - 4 seater 'practical' GT, v8 GT, mid engined v8 supercar, v12 supercar (sorry, calling the f12 a 'GT' and the 458 a supercar is stupid when the 458 will get it's ass handed to it performance wise) and then high end v12 mid engined supercar. Something for everyone. Is your complaint that the mid v12 high end car is not more accessible or that they don't have 2 mid v12 cars or what?

I like the looks of the f12 better than the 458, I think both are good looking but still haven't come to grips with the air intake/grill on the 458.

    Like I said last week.

Lamborghini is doing whats its tried to do for 40 years. LOL!!!!!!

Trying to upstage Ferrari at every turn. Watch, they'll have another 1 off version of the Gallardo or Aventador during the launch of the F70.

Personally I think this car looks ridiculous without a windshield and the back of the car is just too much. Its too cartoonish.

Its almost like this car is built for a super hero. You drive something like that around everyone under 17 would want to be with you. I can't see any adults taking you serious driving something like that. Its screams for way too much attention.

No one is going to convince anyone else about looks, but it is interesting how these cars arouse so much emotion. I personally love the F12. IMO it has just changed forever the way front engine sports cars are seen. And although the front and rear are greatly evolved versions of the FF, it is the side treatment beginning from the hood channels and ending with the rear intakes that is original and remarkable. To make the point, today an Aston DBS passed by, and I thought to myself, "Gee, that's pretty and tasteful, but why is the side so boring?"

I own a 458 and agree that it is rolling art, but it is a different expression of the modern sculpted look. Sweeping sheet metal panels are suggestive of urging the air how to flow.

As for the Aventador and other Lambos, I enjoy seeing and driving them, but their personality is not expressing "me."

Overall we seem to be in an age where sculpted design is the new thing, the old era was rounded efficient curves, and they still look good. But sculpture is tricky to get right. Get it wrong and you have a Mazda RX8.

A lot of people don't understand this is why Ferrari sells 5 or 6 times more cars than Lambo does & this is why the company is financially healthy.

The people screaming for the space ship exotic, Ferrari will make one every 8-10 years. Thats just the way they market things these days. You can't argue with the formula they are making millions in profit.

Dam, the aventador convertible is knocking me over----------looks sweet. First time I've seen it. I did not care for the coupe. Whats funny is I am not a convertible guy, but this one is moving me. However, this car is more-or-less a parade car.

I also agree that the rear of the lambo needs work.

Still think the F12 is the better car.

To me Lambo got just what it wanted: knock the F12 off the front pages for a while to protect future Aventador buyers from jumping ship.

I do like this car very much but it's never going to sell in any qyantity or be street legal in the countries that matter.

They're only making 1, and it's already been sold, apparently.

But you're right - it deflected press attention away from the new V12 Ferrari, which was probably why they revealed it in the first place.
