I don't think that there is any difference to exhaust noise levels under full acceleration at mid to high revs

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140629080&postcount=4

The chart is for a 430 but I'm told the California is very similar mapping

It indicates at high load and high rpm the exhaust flap is open in both modes

It does bring up an important issue, I think there should be separate buttons for

Magneride - soft vs hard suspension
    Exhaust - open vs closed
Engine map - sharp vs lazy
    Transmission - sharp vs lazy

Glowred, that was a great video!! Wow, 3 camera angles. How did you overlay the gauges and map? Was that edited for you?

I used a Contour+ POV camera which records the GPS data and video. The camera was mounted on a suction cup mount.

I moved the camera around the car, inside rear window, side window and front window.

I then imported the video files with the GPS data embedded it into a program called Dashware. This uses the GPS data to add the map and dials (I did customise the dials slightly).

I then stitched the videos from different laps together to make one seamless lap video (hopefully).

I can only go with what the marshals told me when I did the static test, so there must be a difference.

Agree with the separate buttons but I think they only need an option for the Magnaride and another for the engine map / transmission / exhaust

Geez... I really wish we didn't have the DOT regulations for amber front markers...

    I love those wheels.

Welcome, Bradders. Congrats on the Cali. Nice wheels. I think I will regret canceling them for my car...

Good point, Jason. On my 993TT, I replaced the original bumper covers with the European versions to get rid of the awful US-mandated 'bumperettes', affectionately called warts in the Porsche community.

    Wow, the wheels look great

I think one of the reasons the california "haters" didn't like it when it was released was the 18 and 19 inch wheels look, I'm my opinion, terrible

Those wheels on your car bring it up another level above the "normal" 20 inch diamond finish sport rims most of us have

    Great choice

Im not feeling the black windscreen pillar without the roof being done though, are you going to wrap the roof black, might be worth considering

Are your wheels the forged 458 ones or the dealer fit California forged like on the Ferrari website as an option for California?

Those are the wheels from the Vintage package for the Cali.

Do you have a photo of your car from the side? I want to see how beautiful the wheels are.

Will grab some more shots over the weekend, all being well - it needs a good clean first though, as the weather was pretty grim here in Leeds yesterday afternoon!

Wheels are 20" Diamond Forged - Dealer fit. The car was spec'd by the dealer as a demo, and they added the wheels for the showroom. Luckily for me, they agreed to let me buy it before it was even registered.

Roof in black is something I am toying with - either a wrap, or a repaint. As above, the pillars were already spec'd, so I took it as seen for now.

So glad to be part of the community after years looking on from afar!

Congratulations Bradders, nice car! Where did you pick it up and what color is the interior?

Cheers! Got it from JCT600 Brooklands Leeds, UK, newly registered yesterday.
The interior is nero with white stiching, daytona seats front and rear. Can be quite a dull colour normally, but with the white and the dark wheels, it seems to set it off really well.

Congrats on your first Ferrari! Your Cali is very nicely spec'd. The black A pillars and roof, the wheels, calipers, and Daytona seats are well thought out and make your car all the more exquisite .

Plus, the car gets better with time-so do not be afraid to drive her.

Thankyou. Fear not - it will be driven. It's not going to become a garage queen.

I am in the process of purchasing a California & don't own one yet so pardon my ignorance.

On cars equipped with Megnaride, there is no button to change the suspension setting?

How do the settings change then...does the suspension setting change with the choice of the overall comfort/sport button on the steering?

    Thanks

Yes, when in sport mode the Megnaride really stiffens up the suspension.

So no standalone separate button for Magneride setting then...hmm

I have tried to view lots of Californias over the past week and I was actually looking for a button that has a suspension symbol on it

By the way I saw this 458 Spyder awaiting delivery. It had a button with the suspension symbol on it.

The sport vs comfort setting of the mannetino changes the firmness of the suspension.
