Unable to find a new Cali (or one in the pipeline) with the highly recommended Magneride on this forum, I have decided not to buy a new 2012 but instead a slightly used 2011 with a 7-year service contract.

Hopefully it will be home tomorrow and I will start a new thread/pics accordingly.

    Can't wait...

Does anyone know when Ferrari began including 7 yr maintenance with the '11 Californias? Was there a particular month or chassis or VIN number where it started?

According to a Ferrari press releases I've come across in my research over the last couple of weeks, the 7-year maintenance started with March 2011 production:

The car I am purchasing was a April 2011 production and my dealer has confirmed the inclusion of 7 year maintenance on it. My model year is also 2011.

Obviously a typo; he meant 2012 models, which is consistent with the other post saying the program began with orders taken in March 2011. Such orders probably would result in 2012 model year cars, although it's surprising (or maybe not so surprising) that Ferrari would be so ambiguous. The data point about one poster saying he has the 7 yr. plan and MY 2011 is inconsistent, however.

Manufacturers have different strategies in different markets. In big markets like the US they sometimes coincide some changes about cars, warranties, etc. with early introduction of new model year.

For instance a car I personally like & have Lexus GS350 has been introduced in the US in February 2011 as a 2013 model year. In our market it was introduced in March 2012 as 2012 model year.

Generally, to avoid confusion, I find it easier to discuss production months which is how factories reset themselves.
