Christian - In the past, we were unable to run open-wheel cars at the FCA events while the closed wheel vehicles were in session. I remember years ago that Steve Jones (ex. Sport Auto) had a Formula Atlantic (I think) he was able to take during the lunch break only. Check with FCA brass to confirm the situation. I **think** Dan Unkerfer is our track steward for the two days, so he'd have the final say.
Thanks, you are correct. I had contacted FCA, and I am waiting for Dan's decision. I understand the reluctance / liability.
A little birdy at the FCA Enzo birthday dinner told me we could expect to see/hear/smell a few of these at VIR: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cannot wait, I haven't seen Challenge cars since the last Challenge Series race back home. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Hey Matt("Photog"), If you're looking forward to seeing Ferrari Challenge cars, we have a large group coming down from New England to the event -- including eight with 355, 360, and 430 challenge cars! Hope you'll stop by in the paddock and say hello. If we're allowed to take passengers at the event, I'd be glad to give you a ride in my 355Ch (blood red color, #14) in whatever speed run group you'd be comfortable with. Regards, Charlie
Hey Charlie I appreciate that! Glad to see others coming down from where I used to live in my neck of the woods
Oops! Spoke to soon. My Sunday afternoon get-together will need to be postponed. I need to spend some time with Lynne this weekend and can't break away to come up Sunday. I'll be up Monday and Tuesday with Len and look forward to seeing everyone there! If you're interested in some great inexpensive data acquisition and loggers for the F430, F430 Challenge and 458 Italias, I've got a few AiM Solo DL's in stock. It's amazing what these are capable of. Also have some cool remote start/stop switches for GoPro Hero HD and HD 2 cameras that are the bee's knees! I'll make sure folks get a chance to see some of the great in-car from the 1:59-2:00 laps of several Challenge drivers that I've been able to work with, too. Just stop by the prettiest Grigio Titanio 360 Spider on the planet!
Well... Darshana just had shoulder surgery and is in immediate-post recovery, so my plans to be there for everything from Sunday evening through duration now look like drive up and back home on the same day on Monday or Tuesday - still being determined. What sucks is I got about 4-5 people to sign up (newbies mostly) who I won't be able to see and work with over the event . I'll do my best to be there for at least one day though & wish everyone a great time on and off the track!! Cheers, C Chuck Hawks, Pro-Driver Coach, Instructor & Facilitator rEvolution Performance
I wish I had a bloody car to drive! anyone up for loaning me a car, which I beat the crap out of and tear around Oak Tree turn at >60mph? I'll get it detailed for ya.
You can use my Escalade ESV! It features the most undersized brake rotors in the universe but that won't matter!
I plan to get there early Sunday- mid-afternoon. I'll be staying in the units above the garages- at the straightaway. Who else is arriving early? I will probably have a coupla extra cold IPAs available...
If you see me wandering around let me know. I brought about 10 gallons of PA breweries finest beers with me to take back to NC, all are welcome to them. I will be up there Tuesday Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Well, I won't be making it up until Tuesday but I plan on being there all day and look forward to seeing everybody! Cheers, Chuck (from my new iPad and first iPad for that matter) Chuck Hawks, Pro-Driver Coach, Instructor & Facilitator rEvolution Performance
I hope all are having a good and safe time... I've seen photos on FB of a pretty good fender bender involving a 430 and a 355 Challenge...does anyone have updates on that?
Mere flesh wounds! The 355 was repaired and took to the track again, the F430 will go home to Mass and get the LF corner fixed. No major damage. There was a Porsche, too, all from the same pit area... All this happened in the Intermediate group in the wet this morning. People not treating this track with enough respect, IMO. OTOH, there were fifty-plus awesome cars there with NO trouble, including an MP4-12C and a new Evora, along with two Spec: Race Atoms. Cool deal!
