Hi everyone-it seems I need a new bypass cannister for my stratos-it uses the same one as the Dino-any ideas of where I can pick one up?

    Thanks so much!

Sorry tom-do you know where I should look on the superperformance site? Remember I'm the mechanical village idiot!

    Thanks again

236M-181525 is the part number. TAV8 part #4 on the 246 parts book.

Dennis McCann doesn't have it, neither do superformance.co.uk or Dinoparts.de

I don't know where to go next, maybe Tom Shaughnessy has one in one of his barns somewhere.

The Stratos does not have a part even mildly similar to that...
Part # 4 on TAV8, is strictly a Dino part.

Phil, what page of the Stratos catalog are you looking at, and what is the part number?
    Possibly, I can help you.

    Regards, Alberto

It's the small blow-by canister mounted on the firewall of the Dino and Stratos. Not the air filter canister.

That's what I thought. Convoluted, but not difficult to make.

Part # 82308755 from the Stratos Catalogue.

Different part number, yet the same part as an E series, ...I think.:)

Phil, Thomas Popper might be able to give you a lead. I used to also get parts from a team that rallys Stratos in Germany (they had a lot of original parts), but don't have the details on this computer. Let me check when I get home.

Having said that, it looks like an easy part to fabricate. I wonder if it should be hammered-finish gray as well.

Phil, did you try Tom? If he has two, he most likely has yours.
    I sent you a pm.

Does anyone know what's inside the blowby separator?
Is it empty inside or is there a screen or something to make the oil separate out from the gas vapor?

Phil, the name of the person I used to get Stratos parts from is Udo Sparwald. He campaigns (or then did) at least two Stratos in rally events. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate his contact details. Perhaps our German colleagues can locate him.

In any event, good luck with the fabrication.

Careful Phil, rust outside can (possibly) mean rust inside, then straight into the engine....

Here is the rusty one I cut open. Not good! Not sure if they get this way if the car is used frequently. This would be a good candidate for a reproduction in stainless steel.

    thanks alberto-

i just had the engine rebuilt-it was apart completely, and there was no rust, thankfully...

    it's practically brand new now!

here's a thought-there are a few of us with stratos on the site-could we have a little subsection that deals just with the stratos here? moderators? is that possible? the car IS half ferrari, after all!

    thoughts?

It would be interesting to see how the inside looks below the dividing plate.
Since that is where the oil would collect one would expect less or no rust.
