Grrrrrr! I feel for you buddy! Frustration! ......... and you know it's gonna be something simple.

Hopefully you can make the PIN sequence work - at least that would make it mobile and easier on the pocket.

    Bloody Ferraris!

well i thought when i found a blown 5 amp fuse everything was gonna be fixed. things stared to look
good after i replaced it. dome light came on. after i put the key in the ignition. it beeped like it was suppose to. then the fuse blows every time i put a fuse in now it blows right away. i pulled off a couple of accessories that were hooked up directly to the battery terminals. im starting to worry now

This will sound very basic (forgive me) - are your batt terminals installed correctly? Can you recheck one more time.

    Grrrrrr (again)!

    Which fuse is it?

Fuse #70 is supposed to control Ceiling Lights, Cigar Lighter, Park Lights, Door Lights,...... and is supposed to be 15A. Are these other items working or not when blown?

Does it "pop" immediately or perhaps take several seconds to burn out?

Check the manual or the fusebox cover and make sure 5A is the correct rating for that fuse. Maybe it should be higher and that's why it keeps blowing.

After this, if you want to keep going, and depending on whether it pops instantly or takes several seconds, you're going to have to start digging.

Assuming correctly rated fuse and immediate pop you're probably looking at a direct short to ground somewhere. If you can chase the wires you may come upon connection blocks and can try disconnecting and see if a particular line, once disconnected, allows the fuse to live. If you can find this you're on the right track and need to chase that trail down further.

i checked all the fuses in the first bank of fuses behind the drivers seat and one 5amp in the center of the cluster was burned out....it must be the correct fuse cause when i initially replaced it everything started working like normal....my battery just didn't have enough juice to turn the car over....so I brought my battery back over to autozone and got a new replacement and purchased a bunch of fuses...i actually messed up and purchased 7.5 amp fuses and the one i pulled out originally was a 5 amp....so i'm using a fuse that is a bit higher rating already.....my car insn't one of those "been around" molested cars...its all original and i'm the second owner from some rich guy back east....anyways...something is popping the fuse.....i wonder if its the siren box i had replaced a few years ago.....the new fuses pop immediatetly as i plug them in...i can hear it pop......the car hasn't been worked on in a while so its something that happened while the car was sitting and the battery died..it was working fine a month or so ago

Trying to understand and help here......

Initially everything was as normal - are you saying the alarm led started flashing and your remote managed to communicate with it and turn it off and subsequently when you tried to start the car it did actually allow you to turn the engine over but it was slow and lethargic and wouldn't start? If so this is progress right?

On the fuse side, don't discount a wrong fuse having been in there from a previous time. I've seen that countless times on cars. You really need to figure out what fuse it is by comparing it to the diagram on the fuse-box and determine what rating it should be.

I had a dead alarm siren for some time after I purchased the car. The only obvious symptom was that the light was on (or flashing, I can't remember now) when driving. Other than this there were no ill effects on the car. That said, I know the car will function and the immobiliser will turn on and off without the siren attached, so if you wanted to isolate the siren as a possible cause you could disconnect it for the time being.

Do please clarify as per paragraph one above.

    Agree with Ferrari Dublin above.

Hmm.. if it's fuse #74 (5amp) then it's your alarm system that's blowing it. If fuse #70, then may be something related to cigar lighter. (See manual page 4.25 for these fuse #'s)

If fuse #74.. Makes me wonder if your alarm siren has gone bye bye. (Only thing I can think of that might blow the fuse). In this case, if fuse 74 is doing it, get a metric hex driver and open the front trunk. The remove the 10 or so screws on the front panel in the front trunk (where the tire inflator is, iin front of the windshield) and remove it. Peel back the plastic sealer and unplug the alarm siren on the right hand side (black plastic thingy with a connector on the top). replace the fuse and if it doesn't blow then you know it's the bad component. Also might explain why the alarm led doesn't go on. The alarm siren looks like this:

Thats exactly what i did. I pulled the alarm siren. SUCCESS! Car started right up. It was already a replacement unit. Probably wasnt brand new. I'll have to order another one. I saw a new one on Ebay for $255. Hopefully when i plug the new one in i dont start blowing fuses again. I'll post after i do it. Thanks guys for all your help!

Delighted for you Wayne - well done for sticking with it.

Just regarding a replacement, the reason your's has failed again is probably because the main battery is going dead (or being disconnected?) due to lack of use which then has the emergency batteries inside the siren go into distress. If you're not using the car regularly you'll probably suffer failure again. Maybe just do without the siren altogether? Immobiliser still works right?

Anyway good to hear you're back in the saddle!

i should hook a trickle charger. It has a hook up already installed in front. I'll probably never get around to replacing the siren. Its not like i need it. The door locks work fine and so does the imobilisor. Thanks again.

I use a corvette siren in mine. The 05' corvette has a siren that works in the 360. Cheaper about 80 to 100 bucks. I bought mine on ebay for 20 bucks.. Just plugs in.

Ahh Shucks Ron :) In fairness Wayne did all the work and I know I'm only too happy to try pay back a little of the help I've received over the last three years.

Realistically I couldn't afford to run this car if I didn't manage most of the maintenance myself and I definitely couldn't manage that without this site.

If the car doesn’t get a lot of miles on it and the battery is not on a conditioner it's pretty normal for a battery to be useless after 3 years.

Mine is never on a charger and the batteries typically last 7-8 years. Of course, she gets driven regularly.
