Jay, I think you are correct. If not, it's quite similar to the car shown on Wayne's show. Unfortunately, I can't get comfortable with those wheels. Too much bling on an elegantly-designed/styled car. That's just me, though. To each his own.

Fewer than 200 miles since 2009. Seeing maintenance records will be key to understanding how much recommissioning will be required.

First 400i I have seen with a air pump for the cat' besides mine. (mine "fell off" in the last months...) This one is located in similar location to mine with the PS reservoir moved forward to make room.

I'll have to +1 on that one! Were they even an option back then?? I think the concave wheels took on an aggressive look that the ABS wheels are missing.

Ken, I've seen this before a few times over the course of 5 yrs. or so, that & the cats would be the first thing I'd tear off. These fed. shops took the legalization to the limit.
I meant to post about this on the car below recently but time got away from me...B.

I'm thinking that this car had a respray, notice the 400i script on the rear fascia that doesn't contain 'automatic' on it? That & other script may be replaced appliques. Those FI lines look like they were treated right.
Anybody know what that box is on top of the left air filter housing in front of the metering device?
Most 400's I see have both the speedo & tach pegs @ the 10mph/500rpm marks, & so was mine until I took it to 140 mph. When I parked it, they were...
I think the meter springs need exercising from time to time. ;o)

That didn't take long after being re-listed / BIN!
It's rare to not see the speedo / tach @ 10 mph / 500 rpm, it's rarer yet to see that only the speedo is bottomed out.

I purchased it off of eBay. I live in St.Louis Mo. It was the same car that was on Chasing Classic Cars. This is my 2nd 400i, and this one was very well sorted. I had all of the fluids changed and the belts, checked the timing tensioner and added 2 lbs of Freon and it is ready to go. Thanks

Thank god those hideous wheels from 2012 were tossed in the bin. :)

Hmmmm, pretty sure he's the guy selling on BaT as the description there indicates he's owned the car for 8 years....Guess we'll see!

    Good day,

One of the fellow's previous posts stated he was in the St. Louis Missouri area which matches the Bat Auction location... and so you could be quite right that it is the same owner.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day All,

Just adding doc... Chassis 53797 is now on BaT:

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-ferrari-400-2/

The last auction (2020-05-18) looked to be a no sale with a Max bid of $ 48500 USD. At that time the car had 18966 showing on the odometer and now is showing 19108... so the car has only travelled 42 (miles/km ?) .

Also, there was a previous thread on the car as well

    Cheers,
