I take care of a 2009 F430 Challenge that has a low oil level, what oil should I use to top it of? Cheers.
Hmmm - if I asked a friend to look after my car I'd hope he'd know enough to know what oil to use - I suppose its good that you asked first ! My guess is the Shell Racing 10W60 or local equal - isn't there a sticker or manual ?
There is a race log book but it's in a file in the office which I won't get to until next week, I just wanted to top if off so I could exercise it tomorrow...
this is the car http://www.goodingco.com/car/2009-ferrari-f430-challenge I guess I can call Fall-Line Motorsports in the Morning.
Are you checking the oil with the car running or shut down? Are you familiar with the process to check the oil?
With the motor off, I did wonder if it should be running and hot, I think I will wait until I can get to the office to see if there is a manual.
This thread's a wind up right? You look after a 430CH yet don't know the correct procedure for checking the oil nor what type to put in?!
I actually look after 60 cars for one guy, I have not worked as a mechanic for over 20 years! When I'm not sure of something I ask, I've done that for every car I wasn't familiar with, until now every one has been super helpful! What's with all the snide remarks?
^ Mitch speaks the truth. I'm using Brad Penn 20w/50 which is about a 60-70% group IV pao synthetic and it has an HTHS of 6.4. Great stuff.
Come on, guys. Give the guy a break. He's doing the right thing by asking. Some guys would just take a stab at it without asking or checking and screw something up.
Cheers mate. I have a call into Fall-Line Motorsports and they will have their mechanic call me with what oil they use and all the necessary procedures. Thanks to some of you chaps who offered advise, the reason I thought these forums existed!
My manual for my 2008 430 says to use 5-40 weight synthetic oil. Check oil while hot and running. Be sure to heat resistant gloves when taking off the metal oil cap it will be very hot.
