Then it would make sense since you had to go Italy to get them. The tire situation with the Countach is terrible.
George, do you expect it will be a problem to get tires for countach in the future? Is there just Pirelli who makes these size tires? Thanks, Marcus
At this moment, Pirelli says they will make them again but they need to have a certain amount of dealer backorders to make a production run. I would think that at some point they will make them. personally i do not think that the Countach should have anything but Pirelli tires on it, Pirelli is the proper tire for the car, it looks right on the car and it is Italian like the car. Also the P-0 tire is a very good general use tire for the Countach with 3 different tread patterns to handle most conditions. George Evans
There are a whole bunch of "Idas" around here lately... "I'd uh, help people find tires, but I wouldn't charge $X,xxx for them." "I'd uh, post a price of a car I was selling." "I'd uh, do things differently than that guy." GE has been in business for how many years? And what is the consensus of the quality of their work and customer service? Yeah, exactly. To make sideways remarks about an invoice you basically demanded be posted is just lame. So, some of you think you can do this better? Well then DO IT and when the service you offer changes the entire industry, because everyone else is doing it wrong, we'll be here to laud you for it. I'm just so sick of seeing people deride Roy, or Joe, or GE or anyone else who put in the work to get people and their cars to where the Countach magic can happen, for no other reason than they think they know better, despite not being in the business of selling, or servicing these cars. These people DESERVE to make their money, they're providing a service people either can't do on their own, or won't do on their own. Demanding fellow owners post invoices and then picking apart a respected/reputable business is behavior more suited to the children at L4P or *********.
You're a funny dude, now calm down This where a public forum on the internet can sucker you in. On my way back after posting the post I did above, I felt it was a little too much and went to edit it but it was too late. Again-public forum...the invoice thing was not something I would post. But since Roy did, he opens himself up to questions. George did not have to come here but he got pulled in too. Hence, if people kept humping the invoice, Roy could've say "PM me for it". Any questions after that can be between Roy, George and the potential buyer. But also keep in mind that most questions were for clarity reasons. The Pirelli tires, George clarified why the high price and now it's fully understandable. I would hope people are glad that got questioned. People would left this thread thinking that's a high price, no? Now, they would understand. FWIW, I have been in the automotive business for 30yrs, 24 of those years owning my service center.
your are right Peter. From some negative we need to look into the positive. At least to me the thread is postive. Georges has posted some very good technical info about Countach work details. Roy has clearly established why the DD commands top $$ and I am sure many are to come and understand what it takes to get from an engine factory build car to a car that has engine improvements. Something has certainly occured between to the car between Joe listing it and and Roy getting it and that has muddied the thread a bit but at the end I have to say that DD will sell top $$ for a DD
I think this is a GREAT thread, it just shows the REALLITY, here we see just ONE car wat was for sale and now you see EXACTLY how everything went, prices, costs, brokerfees, just EXACTLY what kind of costs there where, posting these invoice is great info for guys who doesn't really know what kind of costs you can expect on a countach, you can see dealer/brokers fighting eachother, this is real life! GREAT THREAD!
Oh there have been offers, just none that I have accepted...I have no shame in saying the highest offer to date, which came this week, was $220K USA Funds...but we are getting closer.. If it goes, it goes, if not it will be enjoyed as the driving weather here in Seattle approaches..what is after that..? Things change from day to day..anything can happen.. This is like E-Bay LOL
Why isnt this car advertised on LAMBORGHINI talk .com? Love to here there comments........be little more interesting there than here dont you think? Any reason?
+1 But it does have the most active Urraco section of the 3 forums. But it can't hurt to put the Blue DD on there.
Nonsense. It's the most active site for Jalpas. It has a fair amount of threads on Lamborghini Countach restoration as well. Not a great site for idle chit chat, yes. Technical stuff, yes. As far as the car on this thread not being sold, it takes time. Maybe it won't sell at this price, maybe it will. Myself, I would keep it. Since Roy doesn't pay tax on it for 3 years, I would get closer to the time limit, then reevaluate a direction.
Roy, I stand corrected. Thanks for posting the invioce. I have been in the automotive and aircraft repair industry for over 35 years (including owning my own automotive repair facility for 20 years). Mechanically your car has been gone thru with a fine tooth comb! Looks like anything that was in doubt got replaced (which is the way I perform maintenace on my cars) Personally with the kind of $$ you have in the car, I would drive it, enjoy it, and if the market keeps climbing, sell it in 1, 2 ,3 years and make a serious profit. You cant drive a bank statement Good luck with the car either way you decide to go with it!
I think you ahh, well, "Oversteered" on this one . Seems like a healthy debate to me with willing participants on both side. No one's called anyone else's mother out, so no harm done.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FMMnQzxIAU[/ame] just one more question Roy or GE, how was it possible this engine needed so much work with new pistons and so on with only 11.000 miles on it? ran it with low oillevel? Think more people like to know. The colour combo and interior is really great!
