From a performance standpoint and wide market appeal there is no question. I am not satisfied with the ext. appearance of the cars right now. I am looking for something different than they are producing.

Well put. The 458spider comes closest to what my up bringing feels a Ferrari should be, 599 edges in the right direction, but the others just don't do it for me. Performance wise, Ferrari is blowing its past away!

I/m with previous posters who voted for 1986 or 1989. The new cars are better in every way except beauty (admittedly subjective). Aside from the 458, the new cars are not attractive for me. I don't like the slab assed Cali, the F12 has front fenders like a Mazda RX-8 (look at each in silver), and that 4WD hunchback creation is a Ferrari to forget.
Better? Yes! Faster? Yes! Prettier? Only the 458.

I am sorry but obviously you and I have different opinions on Ferrari currently. I think Ferrari is diluting their Brand DNA with the current line up with building a California that is targeted at Females mostly and a Ferrari FF with four wheel drive and four seats. What ever happened to Enzo's vision of building mostly a car about the engine (V12) and letting coach builders worry about the rest? Ferrari is not the brand it used to be building 7'000 cars today and cannot be termed exclusive any more. Yes the 458 is brilliant but Ferrari has to be careful to not put profits first and Brand DNA and brand history second. Else it risks ruining the brand.
The brand was the strongest from the 1950's until the late 1960's. That was a strong lineup (250 SWB, 250 GTO, 250 TR, 250 TDF, 275 GTB, 250 Cal Spyder). It went downhill from there...
