F12, hands down.
I don't really care for either all too much, but the Viper is going to look dated pretty quickly. Thank goodness for the interior improvements because previously it looked like the interior of a bad conversion van, which isn't saying much!
But isn't the new Viper more expensive now? Since it has carbon fiber body, way better interior, electronics etc.
having a viper in europe or asia would be as exotic a car as you could drive. i would love the reaction it would get at the n'ring for example where porsches are as common as hondas.
The Viper's front and back look mismatched, unbalanced. The F12 has a fluidity to it, from front to back. I think the Viper will become dated rather quickly.
But see thats subjective/personal preference. 9 times out of 10 I will choose the hot dog over the steak. Its not like its a scientific fact steak tastes better. Has $110k been officially announced ? While I kind of figured the new Viper would carry a 6 figure price I had hoped it wouldnt because I think thats the death of it. The ZR1 couldnt be successful without the $50k models subsidizing its development costs. A Viper wont sell enough units at 6 figures to justify its development. As the GenIII prices crept up the sales lagged. Once you hit 6 figures its hard to resist buying a used exotic. My $.02 is if the 6 figure base is true this car will flop hard....unless they can be profitable at 2000 units Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those "Agera" headlights doesn't fit the car at all. The overall looks of the car looks aggressive but those cute/asian headlights ruin the looks of the car.
....'flawed' design....? Bwahahahaha. A more exciting shape the roads have never seen. Put any modern Ferrari next to an Aventador and it will appear invisible next to the Lambo. Sorry, I love Ferrari, but Lamborghini has built the most incredible machine, for a price Ferrari can't touch. I like the new F12 very much, but for the money I would rather see an Aventador in my garage.
Yes, the design of very flawed. Or unimaginative if you please. The Aventador isn't exploring anything new. It is a predicable next step from the Murcielago. Such as the Murcielago was from the Diablo and the Diablo was from the Countach. And when you are not all that impressed with sharp lines and creases, which seems to be the flavor of the month in the world of automotive design, than yes, the Aventador is a flawed design.
I like the styling of the Aventador more than any mid-engined Ferrari - classic or modern. IMO it's a true design masterpiece.
I think that the Aventador, just like the new Viper, is unimaginative, maybe boring, but not flawed at all. It´s hard to make a flawed design when you´re copying a classic.
I think Lamborghini did a great job with the Aventador. It's far from unimaginative. If you want unimaginative, look at the current headlight, interior, and rear end design from Ferrari. All the cars are very similar. And the F12 and the FF look like twins, one being slightly fatter than the other.
The F12 isn't exploring anything new. It is just a modern iteration of the Daytona. It also has some contrived (although clever and original) design details, such as the cutouts in the front fenders. The 'F1' tail light is really silly.....and the profile is too 'cab rearward' for my liking. Overall, it is still the best front engined car they have made in years. I like the F12, and i'm sure it's performance will be staggering, but when it and an Aventador pull up next to each other at a stop light....it isn't difficult to imagine which car will be getting the majority of awe-struck looks.... I would like an F12....after I acquire my Aventador!
Disagree. IMHO, every Lamborghini since the Countach is in some way a re-make of the Countach. Take a look at this pic ant try to spot the differences: http://carswithreview.com/reventon-vs-aventador-the-most-luxurious-cars-in-the-world That´s more unimaginative than sharing a few styling cues between models, like Ferrari does. But if that´s so important to you, even the Aventador uses a very similar rear lights treatment to the Reventon. That doesn´t mean that Lamborghinis look bad, nor that every Ferrari looks good. But that thread was about the Viper anyways.
In the latest Evo mag, they show the profile shots of several front engine Ferrari's. The comparison is no different than the one you have just pointed out regarding the Countach/Diablo/Aventador etc. Basically, each manufacturer relies on it's heritage to develop the next model. The only real creativity is in the FF, which was a very brave and bold move to proceed with production. That decision I commend. The F12, a car I like, is just the latest evolution of the design language of the Daytona. In the same issue of Evo, there is a feature on the Aventador J. The most stunning automotive design i've seen this year. I hope the Aventador Roadster is 90% of this amazing 'one off'.
I don´t see any similarities between the F12 and the Daytona. Actually, I do see some similarities between the F12 and the 550 or the 365GTC, but not as strong like the similarities between Lamborghinis. In the worst of scenerarios, the F12 is very different to its direct predecessor, the 599. But again, looking different is not the same than looking good. The 308 is one of my all time favourites and it´s no more than a mix of Berlinetta Boxer and Dino.
Uh.. Yeah no. I like the Aventador but it still looks like rebodied Murcielago mixed with a Gallardo. I don't now if you notice but its common thing that the FF/F12 would share some resemblance. Just like the 599/612. If you want to compare, compare it with the previous model which. The 599 and F12 look nothing alike. Ferrari new models always bring controversy when it comes out because they are always different from the previous model. I remember a lot of people were shocked by the looks of the 599, now its almost a classic for some... And the GTO is simply gorgeous.
Prefer the F12 over the Viper by a wide margin. As far as the 8C, don't think it should be included as comparison with these cars since the performance of the 8C is one or two leagues downstream. Maybe 8c should be compared against the F430 or Scuderia or California or Maserati GT.
