Looked at a 94 348 Spider in St Petersburg, FL today. VIN is #098384. Origially sold in CA, service records from TX. 24k, Tubi headers. Odd color combo of Hyperion blue/dk blue leather. It looks like it's only had one engine out, and that was in 2004 with 20k.

I am a bit concerned about the color combo. It is pretty and different but I wonder about future resale.

I'm also wary of the limited receipts and what seems to be little use and delayed maintenance.

Was listed on Craigslist at $43k then quickly pulled. eBay listing at $47k. I think that once I start talking realistic price and the belt service they won't be interested.

What do you think about the color and the servicing?

Picture? No idea what that color is.
Hyperion is the name of a sewage plant here in LA. Hope it's not brown.

I love that color. Don't buy a Ferrari and worry about resale. 348s are as low as they will ever be. Get it inspected and don't worry about every single record, be prepared to have it serviced. If it passes the ppi, I'd buy it.

LOL, They are original Speedline Magnesium Saleen Mustang wheels! S351 type. They look good IMO. $1100 per wheel new.

If you are concerned about resale, then save yourself the trouble and don't buy it.

    Lovely colour and wheels.

You do not get a 348 to resell it to make money. You get one to experience the thrill of raw driving pleasure. ;)

Bought my street car seven years ago with the idea of keeping it 6 months, repairing the tranny, driving it a while, then selling for a profit. It didn't work out so well. I fell in love.
That blue is a beautiful color.

So Mustang's and 348's have the same bolt pattern and hub bore size? If so, that seems to open up alot of wheel options for the 348?

Apparently! I never knew that and I've owned 26 Mustangs.

5x4.5 bolt pattern, bore i am unsure of. Offset would be a factor too, but I have noticed that Saleen's rear offset is close to a F360 offset, and the front is similar as well. I wouldn't doubt they actually fit with little or no modifications.

I have owned 18x9 authentic Saleen wheels and I can say they aren't cheap units. Although mine were never magnesium.

I guess that means they would work on 355's and 360's as well.

I appreciate the comments. I don't have enough experience in F-car land. I know from other makes that you have sought after colors. This is non-traditional but it's growing on me.

I haven't made a formal offer yet. We are doing the dance at this point. Their take is that it's only been 5k since the 30k service was done so it's fine. My take is that it was 7.5 years ago so it needs to be factored in.

It absolutely needs to be factored in. If you look around in the posts in this section, you will see that most owners agree that the major needs to be done between every 3 to 5 years regardless of the miles. If it has been 7.5 years, then it is time for another service. I am sure that the dealer will argue that point. But that is the case.

The manual is your friend as far as service interval discussion goes.

I love it! great look with the wheels and even though I bought resale red, I sometimes get a little overwhelmed with all the red cars at C&C! The blue looks nice for a change, yellow calipers are different than the black they came with but I like that they go with the center caps.

I had the FNA demo car (concours winner) that belonged to Ferrari president Gian Luigi Buitoni which was the same color. Loved the color, specially since it wasn't available unless you special ordered it, and 3 others did after seeing the factory demo. This one in St. Pete is one of those 3. Although it is definitely due for a major, so it would be a great buy at $40K but not much more in my opinion.

Thank you. That fills in the piece about being delivered in CA. I don't know how long it was there since there are no CA records with the car. Any idea on the whereabouts of the other 2? I looked at the registry and didn't see them.

I have been able to trace three of the four vins of the Hyperion cars. The president car (ends in 719), another that ends in 365 and another that ends in 384. do you know the fourth? Also, what are you using to conclude there were only 4 348 painted in Hyperion?

    Thanks!
