I sent premier a note, and got a less than enthusiastic response, maybe because it was for my son's car and not an exotic.

Sledge4.2, we do not perform any matte or vinyl wraps. This is due to longevity issues with vinyls and we stay on the side of promoting paint protection film and Satin Guard protective films because they are products that will last. For vinyl, we recommend companies like Vinyl Styles or Sams Signs.

I never said I wanted vinyl. Matter of fact, I am not even certain of what materials are available. I want what Itzkirb has. I thought you did his car, or maybe i have it mixed up.

Kirby's car has the Satin Guard protective film on it - #1 below. His vehicle color is gray to start off.

    The CT200H has a graphics wrap - #4 below

Here is a list of services we provide in the films department:

    1. Paint protection film
    2. Satin Guard protective film (this is a clear satin film that will allow the paint color to shine through – not matte vinyl)
    3. Diamond Cut IR Nano Tint
    4. Graphics Design Wraps – this is not typical vinyl. This is graphics media that is laminated with a UV coating to protect the colors from changing. Very different from the colored matte vinyls on the market.

When it comes to color change, you will have to source out a vinyl shop to do this. To help you better understand this, matte vinyl is a solid color and range is 1.5-2.5 mils thick. This product, especially in black, typically does not last very long (approx 12 months) before the oil and debris on the road begin contaminating the film and leaving permanent marks. We do not carry such a product as we care much about longevity for our customers. Signs and vinyl shops would be your best bet if the matte colored scheme is what you are looking for.

Based on the recommendations here (thanks FChat!), I just visited Vinyl Styles this week, looking for a custom vinyl color on my daughter's Mini Cooper. I have to say, I was extremely impressed with their work. They were wrapping a Porsche GT3 in matte Army green. I was skeptical, but the more I looked at it, the more I appreciated the details those guys did to make the vinyl look just like paint. It looked amazing. They're going to do my daughter's car at the end of this month, and I will report back on my experience.

I've worked with a few of them -- yesterday I just completed my 5th wrap job with a new guy and I could not be more pleased. Here is why:

    -local
    -extremely competitive in pricing
    -very good workmanship
-discount card to a local car rental house

I forgot my wallet and he said, "Don't worry about it - pay me when it works."

He's done a handful of 458s and a couple of CSs for people you know well and yesterday he did an entire wrap (complete fenders, entire hood, full bumper and lights, gas filler zone, door edges, door sills) on a RR Sport. Lots of wrap.

The joke when I came to pick it up was "Sorry, I didn't have time to get to it -- and I almost bought that line because the wrap was imperceptible. The car just looked like it was detailed, and thats all.

It's "JG Installers" -- 415-302-0582, 575 Irwin St. San Rafael, Ask for Juan and tell him FOG sent you -- he will take care of you!

As I said, I will report back on this…

The guys at Vinyls Styles are GREAT (Lyle and Jordan). Here is my daughter's red Mini Cooper, now wrapped pink, plus powder-coated white wheels. It looks terrific, and these guys even wrapped the door jams, and under the trunk. Awesome job…I highly recommend them.

Call me stooopid, but are cars being wrapped just for a color change Vs a new paint job? Also, what is the cost of a wrap (business type) and can the material be taken off (or is it like a tattoo)?
