Tom, Could you tell me about the nose on the SA GP 312 B2. I've been aware of these noses for a long time, but I 've never seen what the sports car nose looks like underneath. Is it hollow? Have a bottom? I 've seen the March noses and they didn't have a bottom. I made a sports car nose for my SCCA Lotus 18 formula C and gave it a bottom because I was concerned about lift. I guess I'm just curious about the design and looking for an answer. What do you think? Patrick
Hi Patrick, I think it may have been hollow on the bottom. Hiro just did a kit of it in 1/20th but I cannot find a good photo of the underside yet. On to something you will really like, Shunko is at it again doing more decals for 1/24th F1 models. These were really needed for the Hasegawa/Wave/Revell 1/24th scale kits from the 1990's. Here are the 2 new ones: Benetton B190 B190B and B194 all in 1/24th scale!!!! Thank you Shunko. I have been waiting for these to be done for years as I only build 1/43rd, 1/24th and 1/12th scale F1(although I like to look at 1/20th scale built models). Great news, Fujimi is doing the MP4/12C GT3 in 1/24th scale, so now I can do the Gulf version I wanted. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10182383 Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013
Well it looks like Hiro will now do a 250 GTL Lusso(first pure street Ferrari for Hiro) since Airtrax just did it. Not really suprised at all. That's the way Hiro operates. They are also doing the Aston Martin DB3S wich was done years ago by CMA, but is long gone so that is welcome. I wish they would do a 206S 1966 or some 1950's Ferrari racecars. I am sure Hiro will as soon as Fisher releases his 1950's Ferrari 500 Mondial and 750 Monza kits later this year!! You know Hiro will do a Monza now! So how much money do you think Hiro lost last year?? Big factory near Tokyo making $300.00-$800.00 model kits is a pure gold money maker. is that what one of the ^^ kits is going for? i like the lusso, but not sure i'd ever pay that kind of price?
The dream is over... I had ordered the APM 458 GT in 1/24 scale and as they were not aligned with Ferrari License Products Program, they might go to court ! I received the following message : "This account is in violations of trademark and patent of the right owners registered and certified under the European Commission law and legal departments . Anyone who might have dealt with this account are suggested to report to local customs enforcement unit and or TM/copyright owners listed below : Ferrari S.p.A Legal & Licensing Department Via Abetone Inferiore n. 4 , I-41053 Maranello (MO) Tel : +39 0536 949111 Agenzia Delle Dogane (Italian Customs Agency) Ufficio Antifrode Via Mario Carucci , 71- 00143 Roma Tel : +39 06 502 46 135 +39 06 502 46 596" I'm going now to try to get my money back...
checked out the Hiro site....really steep prices IMO, hopefully you get what you pay for, at 24,000 to 30,000 yen per kit (= $295 to $365 CDN) ...i don't know what thier annual sales are like though?
This was on the APM website: We recently suffered a hijack of email accounts from a hacker, we lost control of one of our email accounts, [email protected]. if you are receiving emails from this email address, it is not from us. If you wish to contact us directly, please feel free to click our contact form, it will bring you to our new email.
I for one would rather try to get the kit instead of the money. As for reporting it to the local customs enforcement unit, you got to be kidding, especially as in some European countries you might be prosecuted for buying counterfeit/illegal goods. Also, are they really in violation of trademark and patent of the right owners? Are 1/24th scale kits of racing cars registered patents? Just curious.
I hope Steve is right as this looks like a really nice 458 kit. If they are making only a few hundred kits Ferrari would have a hard time doing anything to them. In the USA a case like this was settled by calling the models "art" due to their limited nature. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013
I have been contacted by APM and assured that the situation is under control. he is producing right now the kit, but... be quick as he will only produce 50 of them.
